Model/Breast Cancer Survivor-Warrior: @ihartericka
Mua/Art Director/Concept: @moshoodat
It took me almost a whole hour to swallow saliva, after seeing the boldness displayed by Ericka Hart, a Breast Cancer Superior Surviver(Yea! That's what I think she is), through Joey Rosado's Islandboi Photography.
Hart survived breast cancer operation has taken it upon herself to motivate thousands of women across the world and how to handle this 'women-taken-disease' (major).
"When I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, I was more concerned/sad/in mourning about my hair falling out than loosing my breasts", says Hart.
About this breath taking shoot, in which that MUA was Moshoodat, Hart believes she is not seen unless her community is seen.
Lately, I have been reading and discovering what community means to me. The Ubuntu English translation, I am because we are, resonates with me as I don't win unless my community wins. I am not seen unless my community is seen. @islandboiphotography and @moshoodat are the embodiment of community as they center black and brown models in all of their work. I am honored to have worked with them. Thank you not only for a breathtaking photo, but for showing me community. ❤️
This is an encouragement for women struggling with Breast Cancer or even one form of cancer or the other to focus on the future and not the disease.
Be an Ericka today!
