It is pertinent to note that June 12 recognition as democracy day in Nigeria, is a confirmation that the annulled Abiola presidential election was won by A biola. This implies that, Abiola was the first democratic president in Nigeria.

It is disgusting that Abiola and Baba Gana,  the supposed president and vice president of the annulled June 12 elections in 1993 were honoured as a mere citizens, instead of a status of a president and vice president respectively. The duo are not ordinary citizens but were democratically elected president and vice president going by the recognition of June 12 as democracy day. It is our position that Buhari should urge INEC to officially announce the June 12 election results and declare MKO Abiola and Baba Gana as president and vice president. Only on this status, awarding the duo as mere citizens is a mockery of democracy in Nigeria.

Therefore, it is our resolve that MKO Abiola and his supposed vice president Baba Gana KINGIBE, be honoured with the status of presidents and not with a mere awards of no significant to Abiola’s family and Baba Gana. They should be recognized as presidents whether former or present, and all presidential entitlements they ought to have enjoyed be paid to them without further delay beginning from 1993 till date and beyond. It is only when this is done, the mere investiture awards are meaningless.

It’s imperative to note that playing politics with such a national or typical issues is detrimental. Nigerians should not be carried away by Buhari political calculations. I was not pleased when the supposed president and vice-president, Abiola and Baba Gana KINGIBE were not honoured with a status of president. There is no way Abiola,  Baba Gana will be honoured outside the status of president ,except the awards conducted is a mere political jamboree or gimmick.

It is equally not fair to left out Fela, Dele Giwa and others who died due to June 12 annullment saga. If Buhari is sincere, everyone who suffered casualty on the ill-fated Abiola saga be honoured. And equally Abiola be honoured as member of council of state in the country. Untill the right thing is done, I have nothing to celebrate about the said political awards which is meant to woo south west and other gullible minds to support Buhari come 2019.

It is our final resolve that whether Abiola is dead or not his entitlements as president be paid to his family from 1993 till date and equally all the benefits that the supposed vice president Baba Gana KINGIBE would have received be paid to him,  and henceforth the duo be treated as one time president and vice president in Nigeria and except these necessary steps are taken ,the supposed goodwill of Buhari is in limbo, fiasco and oblivion.
