Lola Ashiru thugs allegedly invades Senator Rafiu’s home town, 9 people shot.

Thugs of Lola Ashiru allegedly invaded the home town of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim on Tuesday, 19th February, leaving about 9 people with bullet wounds.

The suspected thugs said to be loyalist of APC’s Kwara South Senatorial candidate, Arch. Lola Ashiru on Tuesday, invaded Ojoku in Oyun local government area of Kwara state with violence.

While on rampage about nine people sustained gun shot injuries and are currently hospitalized. Key  PDP members that  were shot are Dondo, Agbade, Sheriff, Sai Toyin, Kaba, Akanmu, Tunde Kolokolo and Ibrahim Ojoku .

According report, fracas broke out when the APC supporters’ shout of  ‘O To Ge‘ was countered with the PDP’s ‘O Tun Ya’ by the Ojoku people. This lead to open gun fire.

Ojoku is said to be the home base of PDP since it is also the home town of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim.

Senator Rafiu  have asked hs people to remain calm and refrain from reprisal attacks. He also urge the police to intensify efforts at arresting the masterminds of the attacks and prosecute them accordingly.

In the same vein, the Kwara PDP have on Wednesday, 20th February, condemn the actions of the said APC thugs, saying it’s a clear indication that the APC is synonymous to violence.

Speaking for the party was its state Chairman, Hon. (Engr.) Kola Shittu, who says “We understand that this attack is part of the plot by the APC to throw Kwara into chaos and bloodletting so that INEC can shift election and later conduct a staggered election in the State. It is unfortunate that while the PDP is preparing for the elections, the APC is busy orchestrating plots to unleash violence on our candidates and members in order to achieve its aim of having a staggered election in Kwara.”

He concluded by calling all media, local and foreign observers to put eyes on Kwara, saying that the PDP is a peaceful party.

“We invite the media, local and foreign observers, Nigerians and all lovers of democracy to stand against this dangerous plot of the APC. We insist that no matter the antics and desperation of the APC, election must hold in Kwara simultaneously with that of other states.

“While we call on our peace-loving members and supporters in Ojoku not to launch any reprisal attack, we would want to place it on record that we will no longer tolerate such acts of violence on our members.

“The PDP also restates its commitment to the conduct of a peaceful and credible elections in Kwara where the people shall through the ballot choose their representatives and leaders.”
