The Kwara State Police Command on Thursday, 21st February arrested a middle-aged man, Ibrahim Maroof Adeniyi over alleged blackmail of Ilorin prominent Islamic cleric, Sheirk Oladimeji Uthman Sanu-Sheu.

Trail on Ibrahim Adeniyi started when a petition was written by Sheirk Sanu-Sheu through his lawyer, Ahmed Alawaye & Co. over what he called the malicious blackmail written on his Facebook page on Monday, 18th February, 2018.

Adeniyi has been described as a serial blackmailer who uses his residence at Ojagboro area of the state for malpractices. The police eventually caught up with him in the premises of Kwara State Polytechnic at an internet cafe being operated by him  on campus – Ibmadex Cafe.

On the matter, Adeniyi accused Sanu-Sheu of using his residence for electoral malpractice and more towards the 2019 elections, this he got from one Mr Maroof who said he got his intel from some APC members who live at Ojagboro.

“I was informed by some of my friends by name Nuakufu and Kokewu. I was not personally at the venue but when they told me, I believed it to be true and decided to expose it. I am sorry if the information is false”

The Sheirk in defence said nothing of such happened in his residence and challenged Mr. Maroof and ‘his sponsors’ to produce evidence in respect thereof.

The Police said the suspects would be charged to court on Monday.
