15 Armed Bouncers take over Unilag Senate Building

Following the notice of emergency meeting on Thursday, to be held on Monday, 13th May, fifteen armed bouncers have been invited to secure the Unilag Senate Building.

The Bouncers, belonging to a group known as the K-Square, were invited by the Council Chairman, Mr. Wale Babalakin, to stop any interferance as the meeting will be reviewing Mr. Saminu Dagari-led committee’s report on expenditure of the university between May, 2017 and September 2018; the report of panel set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse of the institution’s library, which was under construction and others.

The registrar of the university, Mr. Oladejo Azeez, a lawyer, had on Thursday evening issued a notice of emergency meeting scheduled to hold on Monday and Tuesday to council members, it was later changed to ‘special meeting,’ by Mr. Babalakin.

The chairman of ASUU on the campus, Dele Ashiru has described the situation as absurd, strange and draconian.

“This is most unacceptable. The pro-chancellor cannot invade our campus with this kind of military mentality,” Ashiru said.
