NASA Awards $31.1million Contract for Instrument Development Facility


The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) awarded a $31.1million construction contract for an Instrument Development Facility in April, 2017.

The contract which was awarded a to the Manhattan Construction Company, of Arlington Virginia, for the construction of the Instrument Development Facility at the agency’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland will cost a total of $31.1 million. 
Work under the contract begins Friday, 20th April, running through Sunday, 20th Oct, 2019.
This contract requires the construction of a 54,200 sq ft., multi-story laboratory and office facility to co-locate and re-locate the Science and Exploration Directorate’s branch and the Planetary Environments Laboratory scientists.

When completed, the Instrument Development Facility is expected to achieve a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold Certification.
