CONGRESS WISHES ALL YABATECH STUDENTS SUCCESS IN THEIR SEMESTER EXAMS

CONGRESS URGES THE COLLEGE MANAGEMENT TO MAKE AVAILABLE THE BEST OF WELFARE CONDITIONS TO REDUCE STRESS DURING EXAM WINDOW

CONGRESS IN SOLIDARITY WITH ASUU AND COEASU OVER THE POOR FUNDING OF THE NIGERIA'S EDUCATION SECTOR

We offer our best wishes of good success and meritorious reward for honest efforts to all well meaning Yabatech students as the semester  examinations gets on the way tomorrow. It has been a semester, not different from others in terms of the demanding work schedule amidst other welfare challenges on our campus. The slimfitted exam schedule also offers no consolation whatsoever. However we are motivated by the never-die Yabatech spirit which would spur all and sundry to an outstanding performance in the exams.

To this end, we urge the College management to make adequate provisions to ameliorate the welfare lapses that has been lingering all semester long. It should not be out of place to demand that classes, open spaces, hostels and the library on campus be light up all through the exams. It would still be thoughtful of us to ask that we get unrestricted access to the medical center for those who would suffer from bouts of illnesses and panic attacks. Water to bathe and survive with should not be a scarce commodity. All of these 'petty' living parameters must be made available to all students who would camp within the school premises for the next 10 days, for their comfort and ease to compete favourably in the exams

We would also continue to lend our voices to the public outcry and demand for adequate funding of the nation's education sector to guarantee her prosperity for the nearest years. We condemn totally all Boko-Haramic moves embarked upon by agents of the state to increase fees and other surcharges in tertiary institutions. We demand, in solidarity with ASUU and COEASU that the Federal government of Nigeria see to the need assessments and memorandum of understanding signed before now, for improved service delivery and better welfare conditions in all tertiary institutions across the federation. We commend the leadership of the Alliance of Nigerian students against neo-liberal attacks (ANSA) for leading the frontline in solidarity with the striking unions, even as we call on other organizations of similar leanings and perspectives to come together and struggle for a revitalized education sector for a terror free Nigeria.

We can not but continue to call on the College's governing council, as well as the management to see to the immediate reinstatement of the union forthwith. The Congress would continue to make available students representatives on council whose sole want is to ask, fight and campaign for the restoration of our own students' association, the Yaba College of Technology Students' Union.

We offer our due regards again to our fellow students in this time. We ask that the elements favour our toilings, each according to our inputs.

We urge all students to shun all forms of electoral malpractices and all of its related tendencies.

Victory is for us. For the union makes us strong

A luta Continua

Signed
Congress Secretariat
