900 Nigerians in danger as Terrorists bomb train on Abuja-Kaduna route

Reports on Monday night indicated that a train carrying over 900 passengers was bombed by suspected terrorists between Rijana and Katari in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

A passenger was reported to have managed to call his relation, saying all passengers were lying on the floor as the terrorists were shooting at the train, sporadically.

Efforts to get confirmation from the Kaduna police could not yield any result.

At the Rigasa Rail Station in Kaduna, the train was still being expected as at time of this report.

Meanwhile, some people expecting their relations travelling in the train were sighted busy making calls and looking worried.

One was later heard saying “Praise be to Allah. The soldiers and DSS have secured the train.

“Alhamdulillah! The army are with us. We are safe!”

Survivor’s experience

One Ana Iro Danmusa, who said he was one of the passengers in the ill-fated train, narrated his experience on facebook:

Kaduna seems to be the latest hotspot for terrorists.

This is coming a few days after the terrorists attacked the Kaduna International Airport where an aircraft was prevented from taking off.

A source said that“they (terrorists) planted IED. When it went off, it derailed the train. There was pandemonium every and some people may be kidnapped.”

Confirming the incident, Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Cooperation said that the “information concerning the attack was still sketchy, and no concrete information could be given at the moment.”

“We have confirmed the attack, but we cannot give you much information right now.

“From the reports we have gotten, most of the passengers have gone into hiding and the officials on board are yet to give us a report of the situation.

”There are reports of gunshots and the train derailed due to the attack,” Okhiria said.
