Ordinarily, the above purported letter to the Senate President by one Thomas Thomas titled, “An Attempt By Senator Albert To Drag Senate President Aground With His Ill Conceived Governorship Ambition” deserves no attention at all, but for the sake of getting the public to be well informed against this ill-conceived, mischievous and concocted tissue of denigrations by a notorious blackmailer.

In Akwa Ibom media space vis-à-vis the social media, the name Thomas Thomas is a character known and associated with false, fabricated and concocted editorials. His atrocious acts were and are well purveyed through his medium, The Global Concord Newspaper. We cannot forget how his medium on October 1, 2015 ran a banner news headline, calling Governor Udom Emmanuel “Armed Robber Governor”. When condemnation trailed the publication as being completely nonsensical, irrational, half baked and a display of poor mental attitude cum rascality, Thomas Thomas quickly published a retraction.

Unfortunately, this is the same editorially unstable fellow that in the early hours of May 9, 2020 woke up to “advise” the Senate President with the spurious fairy tales and lies, he is used to doing. To say the least, his ill fated advise is nothing but an attention seeking venture heavily orchestrated by poverty of the mind.

Can a character of low morals like Thomas Thomas advise His Excellency, Dr. Ahmed Lawan, President of the Senate who is a well-educated, enlightened, experienced, sound administrator and versed legislator? What is more, a public officer with all the paraphernalia of his highly respected office and with well-grounded supporting staff? The answer is obvious.

He is not that man. Besides, is he assuming the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State? If the party in Akwa Ibom State is under threat, is it Thomas Thomas that should raise the alarm? Even if, should it be to the Senate President or the National Chairman/leadership of the APC? Thomas’ action(s) is patently how an inconsistent mind works.

That obtuse letter exposes his shortcomings in editorial and public communications. He wrote, “Sir, I am writing this letter to intimate you that Senator Bassey Albert is going about dropping your name as his arch-sponsor who is working tirelessly with Jide Omokore – a man with criminal charges bordering on money laundering and other financial crimes – to install him as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State in 2023.” This was intended to be a first-hand information by him only for him to add, “Sources close to him.” For how long will Thomas Thomas and his co-travelers continue with this editorial madness and character assassination?

He raised wild and unfounded allegations only to leave it at the sea of “sources close to him”. It is not done. We advise him to publish a retraction or be ready to defend same. Where is the profession of journalism or media practice without ethics as Thomas Thomas is doing?

The Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert, our pride and face of Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District is far above these tissue of lies as weaved unsuccessfully by Thomas Thomas.

A flip through Senator Albert’s profile says clearly who he is and his laudable records in the public sphere as a banker were he rose to the position of Vice President of FCMB.

His dilligence in financial management and knowledge earned him an appointment into the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council as a Commissioner for Finance for seven and half years before proceeding to the Senate, where he currently holds a second term mandate and is performing excellently.

Senator Albert is a loyal and committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and has never contemplated leaving the party to the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Even at the period of the wild wind of defections that greeted the 2019 general elections in Akwa Ibom State, Senator Albert stood firm and remained in the PDP despite the defections of two (2) other PDP Senators.

Why should he defect now after displaying heroic contributions to the success of the PDP in the last elections in Akwa Ibom State?

Dear Thomas and co travellers, if your pay masters are already intimidated by Senator Albert’s political profile and the future, it is not through blackmail and character assassination that they can overpower him.

It is completely not in your hands or any man to decide who becomes the Governor of Akwa Ibom State by 2023.

The scripture says in Daniel 2:21 thus, “It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men. And knowledge to men of understanding.” Therefore, hanging out there in the media with your cohorts to defame him, will not stop the manifest will of the Almighty God. You have been employing this same method with others. Were you able to achieve your political aspirations? Of course you were not and you will not equally succeed now with Senator Bassey Albert.

Resorting to name calling and accusations that the revered Senator Bassey Albert is a cultist can only exist in the figment of your imagination. Aren’t you a big fool to allege that, “Currently, he is treated as a pariah in his party, the PDP, allegedly because of behaviors that expose his cultic dispositions and inclinations.”

The PDP as a party has continued to celebrate Senator Bassey Albert for being a faithful party man, who never defected when it mattered most, despite federal might and entreaties. The comradeship in the National Assembly and in this instance, the Senate is due to popular and unanimously agreed disposition by the members to approach all issues, motions, bills; first and foremost as Nigerians and not on political lines.

The sound relationship that Senator Bassey Albert has with the Senate President, the leadership and members generally is on that very laudable template. Things are done maturedly in the Senate, and not as Thomas Thomas and his blind promoters do exhibit.

We will not waste time to speak on your insult against His Excellency, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, CON or Mr. Jide Omokore. But know, that every allegation and character assassination is actionable.

Finally, when you want to make ends meet, don’t malign people to curry or extract money. We have your records. Therefore, we warn you to desist from this evil trade. It will not profit you.
