The Ohafia Progressive Assembly (OPA) has accused some politicians in Abia of creating unemployment in order to win election in the state.

In a statement made available to GBETU, the group says some “politically ambitious persons whose eyes are set on Abia governorship job are busy creating statewide unemployment and hardship in their ambition to rid and weed others out of the system just for selfish desires.”

Slightly pointing finger, they say this is the “very reason certain properties today belonging to private citizens” in the state “are distrained by the EFCC on alleged grounds of corruption.”

Signed by President and Secretary, Chief Sunday Igwe Onwuka and Hon. Ndukwe Uche Kalu, respectively, the group is calling on “Abians should be wary of such dubious, malicious, self-seeking and egocentric persons,” also encouraging “Senator T. A. Orji not to be perturbed, shaken by egocentric people like these who all through their lives have never done anything good for the common man.”

THOSE CREATING UNEMPLOYMENT IN ABIA BECAUSE THEY WANT TO CONTEST FOR STATE GOVERNORSHIP POSITION ARE WICKED AND EGOCENTRIC.

 

It is very unfortunate that some politically ambitious persons whose eyes are set on Abia governorship job are busy creating statewide unemployment and hardship in their ambition to rid and weed others out of the system just for selfish desires. The only thing that makes these self-serving elements happy is when their interests, usually narrow, are met, even at others’ expense.

These political opportunists are the very reason certain properties today belonging to private citizens are distrained by the EFCC on alleged grounds of corruption. They brought in the EFCC because they are not happy seeing people, usually productive and active youth, gainfuly employed and engaged and attached to certain businesses or jobs within state. Any wonder youths to them are tool of rigging and ballot snatching. Today in our state, ShopRite, BEMAC Hotel, and other establishments in Umuahia are marked “sealed” by EFCC. Motivated by greed, these persons now go about their interest in an inimical way writing and churning out volumes of reports against other political office holders because they have become the rejects of the system and are spent.

 

It is quite surprising that these persons today having expended there political chances becoming lameducks resort to image battering and cheap blackmail. Having served in previous and past governments as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and failing elections severaly when they contested at various levels, these actors now work to bring others down, especially those still relevant today in the polity. Their greatest tool for this is the EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Comission).

Abians should be wary of such dubious, malicious, self-seeking and egocentric persons whose only interest is what will profit them – both in the short and long run – and their families alone. They are the players of “dog eat dog politics”, their trademark, which unfortunately is not a working ideology in God’s own state.

 

Ohafia people are peace loving who believe so firmly in integrity, uprightness and trust. It is not in them to bite the finger that fed them. Sadly enough, 2023 political permutation unfolding before our eyes and under our nose has further revealed that these moles want to remove others not by the ballot but by barrel of gun, even through heightened arm twist. They now, for this petti ambition, turn against the same persons to whom their political elevation and ascent owe much. Sad.

For the record, they have held and occupied various positions from being appointed as SA on legal matters for 2 years to being appointed as Attorney General and commissioner for Justice. While as an Assembly we know that in politics interests may not often converge or diverge, honour should be gven to whom it is due. The Assembly condemns in toto such act.

 

Abians are now wiser; they know their elected leaders beholden to them, that serve them meritoriously. They cannot be deceived by some political has-been who has no business in Abia state of today and who has never empowered anyone since his political career. The reason for such actions for these persons is, unfortunately, not for popular or common good but to enthrone themselves and their cronies. The road leading to the home towns of these persons were actually paved by the same characters they labour today to assassinate.

We call on Senator T. A. Orji not to be perturbed, shaken by egocentric people like these who all through their lives have never done anything good for the common man. The only thing they are known for is betrayal which is their stock in trade.

If truly Senator Theodore Orji was corrupt as they claim, which is not true, why did they not, out of integrity, reject the positions they hitherto held in the state and with which they did nothing for their own people, Ohafia included? Why did they have to wait until after 6 years or so when they have expended their appointed tenure to suddenly, in a volte face, allege corruption on their former principals with wom they served? If anyone should be arrested and prosecuted for corruption, it is their likes because they are not without complicity in the crime which they claim happened, if ever such crimes as alleged ever happened, that is.

 

We therefore demand forwith that Chief Kalu Umeh and those now working for him come to equity with “clean hands” for he without sin should cast the first stone. Likewise is the Assembly demanding strongly that EFCC equally investigate these persons.

 

Abians are wiser and no longer gullible or blithe. Equally do they love Senator Theodore Ahamefula Orji who served them meritoriously and cannot be deceived by anyone in the Calibre of Kalu Umeh, or any other person at that, into drawing a battle line when the task and demand of the day calls for concerted efforts towards buildnig God’s own state.

We advise those seeking to fell others to do so using the only legitimate means – election. This is no military regime and as such is not open to coup, so worthy course is for these persons to go try their popularity at the polls than resort to cheap blackmail and while at it, we wish them luck but resolute in only what is good.
