Abiola Ajimobi: Everything you need to know on rumored death

The Former executive Governor of Oyo state and acting Chairman of ruling Party, All Progresssive Congress, Abiola Ajimobi, is reportedly Dead!

 

Abiola Ajimobi has died at the age of 70.



Ajimobi who was recently appointed as the Acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress by the National Working Committee of the party died due to Coronavirus complications.

 

The former lawmaker fell ill after testing positive to Coronavirus and was reported to be in a critical condition before the time of his death.

 

 

He ruled Oyo State for eight years before he was appointed by Adams Oshiomhole as the Deputy National Chairman (South-West) of APC.

 

Ajimobi was rushed to a hospital weeks ago after his health condition deteriorated and has since remained in Intensive Care.

 

His wife, Florence, was, however, discharged from hospital earlier.



The late chairman had been hospitalised since June 2, 2020, though he was said to have been confirmed positive earlier and was managing the situation at home before the illness worsened and he had to go to a hospital.

 

Like other VIPs, he was said to have opted for private treatment rather than a public facility after his condition worsened.

 

A source close to the family said the former governor had an underlying ailment which was not unusual for men his age.

 

Ajimobi was a former Managing director at the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company, a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum Company.



New Development

Though we cannot yet confirm if he is dead, below are some social media post that claim Ajimobi is dead;

 

Bolaji Tunji, media aide to Senator Abiola Ajimobi has described as untrue reports of Ajimobi’s death.

 

In a post on his social media handles, he urged Nigerians to pray for the recovery of the APC chieftain who is battling with COVID-19.

 

To counter this,

@fisayosoyombo: A source who has never failed me in six years of knowing him has just confirmed to me the death, in Lagos today, of Abiola Ajimobi, former Governor of Oyo State, due to underlying health conditions worsened by the Coronavirus.

May his soul rest in peace.

SaharaReporters says, “Abiola Ajimobi, has slipped into coma as a result of Coronavirus complications.



Ajimobi has been in Intensive Care Unit at First Cardiology Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos, since he was rushed to the place few weeks ago after it emerged he had the virus.

 

The former governor first slipped into coma on June 8 but was revived and stabilised by doctors until Thursday when he again went totally unconscious.

 

A family source, who confirmed the news to SaharaReporters on Thursday night, said, “Ajimobi is alive. He only slipped into coma. We are praying to God for his revival.”



Bolaji Tunji, media aide to the former governor, in social media posts also confirmed that Ajimobi was alive, urging Nigerians to pray for his recovery.

 

First Cardiology is the same hospital where former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, was treated of Coronavirus until he died of the disease.”

He later died and officially announced on Thursday, 26th June, with all the first information correct.
