About 22million votes to be lost due to ASUU Strike

New report from Academic Staff Union of Universities have it that about 22million votes will be lost due to the embarked industrial strike action.

The ASUU have been on head-to-head and on different meetings with the federal government since late 2019 over N30, 000 minimum wage and other benefits in which case the later have refuse to acknowledge.

This action has led to students staying at home.

How it affects Election
Since most of these students did their votters registration around their schools, most of them will not be able to vote since they are at home – They can only vote at registered wards, in which most is around their school and not home.

The @ASUUNGR is aware of the massive number of students that may be disenfranchised by the ongoing industrial action of the union.
However, as students what efforts are you putting to ensure that there are no voters’ apathy that will result in the loss of 22 million votes from this viable segment of our society?
– @ASUUNGR

They went further to say, “We are putting into consideration this issue while consulting with our zonal chapters.”

To this end, it is presumed ASUU might call off the strike really soon since they will not want to be seen as agents of disenfranchisement.
