Mr. Okeke Chika Jerry, hails from Ezinifite in Aguata LGA of Anambra State. His late father, Mr Francis Okeke was a church teacher and a headmaster in public schools while his late mother, Mrs Bessie Okeke was a farmer and a petty trader. Jerry had both primary and secondary education at Town School and Community Secondary School respectively at Ezinifite, his home town.

His leadership career started when he was appointed a school science prefect and school president of Anglican Students’ Association of Nigeria (ASAN) in the year 1991. Jerry sat for his WAEC in June 1992 but because his father had no money to send him to the university, he took a decision to move to Onitsha in January 1993 for a teaching job. Between 1993 and 1994, Mr. Jerry Okeke taught at private schools in Onitsha and subsequently held extra mural lessons for Common Entrance candidates in order to get money in pursuit of further studies.

In 1995, the brilliant and ambitious Jerry got admission to study Civil Engineering at IMT Enugu and personally paid his first school fees. In IMT, he was elected the president, Campus Fellowship of All Christian Practical Praying Band International, a non-denominational prayer ministry.

In 1998, Mr. Jerry would publish his first novel titled ‘REFINED UNITY’ which was launched first in Onitsha at Dennis Memorial Grammar School, Onitsha which had in attendance the likes of the then Obi of Onitsha and Igwe Peter Ezenwa of Oba (Okpoko I of Oba), God bless their souls. The then Rector, IMT Enugu was also in attendance.

Refined Unity was launched again at Mr. Jerry’s home town with the then Igwe Ezeugoato I of Ezinifite and all the Igwe-in-Council in attendance. Jerry’s lovely parents were also alive and present; they commended his work in superlative term and blessed his writing career.

In the year 1999, he founded an education magazine publication which was named Education Mail magazine for students in secondary schools published monthly and distributed personally from one school to another in order to pay his school fees.

In the year 2000, he was elected the president general, Ezinifite Students’ Union, an office he held vibrantly for two tenures of two years each. As the president general of that union, Jerry founded and became the editor of Ezinifite Scope Magazine which was the mouthpiece of Ezinifite community. Seminars, workshops, quiz and debating competitions as well as extra mural classes and football competitions were constantly organized and it made his two tenures outstanding.

Jerry has held offices as: (i) Secretary, Ezinifite Library Board which was established by Ezinifite Improvement Union. (ii) National Vice President, Youth Christian Movement, Nigeria. (iii) National Bible Quiz Coordinator of ACPPB International. (iv) Zonal President, Youth Christian Movement Nigeria, Aguata Chapter. (v) Editor in chief of ACPPB Newsletter, (vi) Editor in chief of New Generation magazine, (vii) Editor in chief of Campus newspaper (viii) Publisher, Glorious Crown Magazine, (ix) The leader, Children Ministry of ACPPB Ezinifite branch, (x) CEO, Edumail Publications limited, Onitsha. etc.

In 2001, Mr. Jerry Chika Okeke got admission to study at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. He was admitted to study Geological Sciences between 2001 to 2005/2006. He personally sponsored his education all through his stay at the university. As a result, he would become the only graduate of six male children. Recall his father had earlier told his children that because of paucity of fund, he might not be able to send them to any institution of higher learning. These financial challenges would not deter him, it even motivated him to work harder in order to earn money for his school fees and today, he is a graduate and self-employed.

Instead of looking for unavailable job in Nigeria, Jerry established a publishing firm in Onitsha named Edumail Publications Limited and between 2006 to date, he has continued to manage the business well and has offered employments to many including his school mates, youth corpers, Jambites etc.

It was also that same year (2006) that his first book, REFINED UNITY was approved as one of the literature exam texts for Junior Secondary School Certificate Examination in Anambra State.

Not satisfied, in 2009, he went back to the university to study Linguistics. During the same period at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, he also enrolled for a diploma course in law and also post graduate school to study Public administration.

As his company started expanding, he bought a land in Onitsha and in December 12, 2011, commenced the building of two storey edifice as his permanent office complex. On 25th January, 2012, his company moved into the permanent site for business.

Years after in the course of his dream to help industrialize the state, he also established a table water industry in Onitsha and supermarkets in Onitsha with branches in other major cities in the state where he has employed many.

Mr. Okeke Chika Jerry writes in two languages: English and Igbo. Presently, he has written over 100 published story books, 20 textbooks, 25 workbooks, 15 revision texts for students preparing for external examinations as well as other books in guidance counseling, history, religion and politics including many articles in various magazines and journals. Most of his books are currently in use in the following states in Nigeria including Abuja: Anambra, Imo, Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta, Rivers, Cross Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Niger, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and Benue States.

National Examination Council (NECO) with headquarters in Minna, Niger State has also adopted his books for exams throughout the country.

Okeke Chika Jerry is a household name. There is hardly any family in Anambra where you don’t see anyone who knows him. He has impacted seriously in the lives of many people. He has assisted a lot of other young people to publish their own story books. He has equally helped many to secure admissions in various institutions of higher learning. He has given scholarship award to best performing students in Junior Secondary school Certificate Examination in Anambra. He has also paid school fees for many.

He has received awards from various organizations, youths/students bodies, churches, and associations including Nnamdi Aizkiwe University, his alma mater.

Okeke Chika said he joined BOOT Party because of their wonderful manifesto which has the needed solutions to the socioeconomic problems in Nigeria especially in Anambra State. It is a party owned and managed by young and vibrant people from all parts of Nigeria devoid of any corruption.
