ACHIEVEMENTS OF KWARA STATE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT (2019-2020)

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE KWARA STATE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT IN ONE YEAR (2019-2020) UNDER GOVERNOR ABDULRAHMAN ABDULRAZAQ.

 

1. Repositioning of waste management with the Local Governments now in charge of their respective areas while the Ministry handles the State Capital using well equipped contractors.


2. Relocation of motor park and traders to Soludero and freeing of pedestrian and vehicular traffic at Challenge’ and ‘Post officeAreas.

 

3. Dredging and desilting of Asa River to stop the annual flood associated with it.

 

4. 12.000 tree plant seeding raising in preparation for 2020 afforestation programme.

 

5. Desilting of drainages and gutters in lorin metropolis (Pakata-itokudimo, Pakata-Alore Pakata-Abemi, Oja Oba-Pakata. Ajikobi-ltaogunbo, Sefura- Omod, Agbooba-Adeta, Okelele-Alore. Adabata-Ojatuntun. Niger Road-Ita Amodu, Emir’s Road-Edun-Taiwo Sale. Gambari-Akereblata, Agric-Sango. Olorunsogo-Gaa Akambi, Tanko Pipeline-Gaa Akambi Round About, Taiwo-Niger Junction, Muritala-Lajorin-Maraba among others.


6. Construction of three integrated modern toilets at opposite College of education lorin, Amberi, and Offa Garrage Park.

 

7. Evacuation of waste from major rivers Amilegbe under bridge, Edun/opomalu under bridge and Post office/Emir’s road) Ongoing.

 

8. Construction of Catcher Pits (Suck Away) to stem water discharge to streets in Kaiama Local Government.

 

9. Massive fumigation exercise across the state in conjunction with Kwara State Covid-19 Sub-Committee on fumigation.


10. Maintenance/plant control at major roundabouts and road medians.

11. Daily/routine refuse collection, street cleaning and maintenance of lorin main dumpsite at Sokoto Ayekale to ensure a clean state capital.

 

12. Clearing of age long illegal dumpsites within Ilorin metropolis coordinated by Abdulrazaq Jiddah led task force at Tanke University Road, lle Onorodunu/Olosun, Okekere Ile Alaro, lle Alaya, Primary School Mbadawaki
Compound, Idigba Area, lle Bread in Tejidini Area, Ojatuntun Market, Ogidi Cottage Hospital, as well as dredging and evacuation of canals at various locations.

 

13. One month forest closure across the state to minimize the illegal activities, especially charcoal production and chain saw operation in Kaliama, Baruten and Moro local governments and take stock of activities in our forests.

 

14. Taking over and the rehabilitation of recycling plant built by the Federal Ministry of Environment at ita-Aman in llorin.


15. Architectural design concept completed for Flower Garden conversion to outdoor recreation.

 

16. Provision of earth moving equipment to Offa LG to evacuate accumulated abattoir wastes.

 

17. Procurement and deployment of both plastic and galvanized waste collection bins at various locations in Ilorin.
