Achievers University Owo, Ondo State, On the move

Approved by the Federal Executive Council on 24th October, 2007, Achievers University obtained its operating licence from the National Universities Commission (NUC) as the 33rd Private University in Nigeria on 11th December, 2007.
The University commenced academic activities on 2nd April, 2008 as the first Private University in Ondo and Ekiti states.

 

Over the last 15 Academic Sessions, Achievers University has regularly matriculated 15 sets of new Achievers and graduated 11 sets of specially trained Achievers at 11 Convocation Ceremonies.

 

The 15th Anniversary of the fast-developing Achievers University comes up with a week-long activities between 5th and 11th December, 2022.

 

Achievers University is fully operating at its permanent site and currently offers 26 programmes at undergraduate level and 9 programmes at postgraduate level in its five Colleges. The status of each of the academic programmes of the University is as highlighted below:

 

College of Social & Management Sciences (COSMAS)

(1) Accounting: Established in 2007/2008 Academic Session as one of the pioneer programmes, Accounting enjoys full accreditation of NUC and ICAN. Runs PGD and M.Sc. at Postgraduate level.

(2) Business Administration: Established in 2007/2008 Academic Session as one of the pioneer programmes, enjoys full accreditation of NUC. Runs PGD, M.Sc and MBA at postgraduate level.

(3) International Relations: Also established in 2007/2008 Academic Session as one of the pioneer programmes, enjoys full accreditation of NUC. Runs PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D at Postgraduate level.

(4) Political Science: Also established in 2007/2008 Academic Session as a pioneer programme, enjoys full accreditation of NUC. Runs PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D at Postgraduate level.

(5) Economics: Also a pioneer programme established in 2007/2008 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC.

(6) Criminology and Security Studies: Established in 2015/2016 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC Runs PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D at Postgraduate level.

(7) Mass Communication: Established in 2015/2016 Academic Session, enjoys interim accreditation, due for a re-accreditation visit in November 2022.

(8) Sociology: Established in 2015/2016 Academic Session, got its first intake in 2020/2021, due for accreditation visit in November 2023.

(9) Public Administration: Established in 2015/2016 Academic Session, got its first intake in 2020/202, due for accreditation visit in November 2023.

 

College of Natural & Applied Sciences (CONAS)

(1) Microbiology: Established in 2007/2008 Academic Session as one of the pioneer programmes, enjoys full accreditation of NUC.

(2) Biochemistry: Also a pioneer programme established in 2007/2008 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC. Runs PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D at Postgraduate level.

(3) Industrial Chemistry: One of the pioneer programmes established in 2007/2008 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC. Runs PGD, M.Sc and Ph.D at Postgraduate level.

(4) Computer Science: A pioneer programme established in 2007/2008 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC. Runs PGD and M.Sc at Postgraduate level.

(5) Geology: Established in 2011/2012 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC.

(6) Plant Science and Biotechnology: Established in 2020/2021 Academic Session, due for accreditation in November 2023.

 

College of Law (COL)

The College awards Bachelor of Laws (LL.B). Established in 2017/2018 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC and Council of Legal Education.

 

College of Engineering and Technology (COET)

(1) Computer Engineering: Established in 2016/2017 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of both NUC and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

(2) Biomedical Engineering: Established in 2016/2017 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of both NUC and COREN.

(3) Mechatronics Engineering: Established in 2016/2017 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of both NUC and COREN.

(4) Electrical and Electronics Engineering: Established in 2016/2017 Academic Session, got its first intake in 2020/2021, due for accreditation visit in November 2022.

(5) Telecommunications Engineering: Established in 2016/2017 Academic Session, to admit its first set of students in 2022/2023 Academic Session.

(6) The College is establishing two more programmes in 2022/2023 Academic Session. They are Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

 

College of Basic Health Sciences (COBHS)

(1) Medical Laboratory Science: Established as one of the pioneer programmes in 2007/2008 Academic Session, it enjoys full accreditation of both NUC and Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.

(2) Nursing Science: Established in 2015/2016 Academic Session, enjoys full accreditation of NUC and Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Runs PGDN, M.Sc and Ph.D at Postgraduate level

(3) Public Health: Established in 2020/2021 Academic Session, due for accreditation in November 2023

(4) Human Anatomy: Established in 2020/2021 Academic Session, due for accreditation in November 2023.

(5) Human Physiology: Established in 2020/2021 Academic Session, due for accreditation in November 2023.
