Ahead of Election, 2Baba and others hold Peace Concert at Lokoja

Ahead of the November 16th Governorship election in Kogi state, Nigerian artiste, Innocent Idibia, simply known as 2Baba and other artistes held a concert in Lokoja to advocate for peaceful election in the coming poll.

 

Innocent Idibia, who spoke yesterday in Lokoja while performing at the peace concert urged youths in the state to conduct themselves in a peaceful manner during the election and avoid being used as agents of violence by politicians.

 

The event which attracted over 5,000 spectators under the ‘Vote Not Fight, Election No Be War’ campaign was organised by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) in partnership with Participation Initiative for Behavioural Change in Development (PIBCID), USAID, UKAID and 2Baba Foundation.

 

Acting Country Director of NDI Raymond Esebagbon advised the youths to shun all acts of violence, hate speech and fake news before, during and after the election.

 

Also, INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in Kogi, Prof James Apam, said youths would be actively involved in the election and urged them to do the right thing that would make the electoral process peaceful, while the acting Executive Director of PIBCID, Halima Sadiq urged youths to promote peaceful and non-violent election rather than presenting themselves as tools for perpetrating violence.
