The Honorary Doctorate Degree conferred on the Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, last Saturday at the Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo, Oyo State, was the fourth of its kind received by the Governor in the past years.
The honorary awards, which were conferred on the Governor as a mark of recognition for his various contributions to humanity and progress of the society, are now four with his first in 2014.
Governor Akeredolu, a former President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and Life member of the Body of Benchers, has continued to received accolades from far and near over the recent Doctor of Law conferred on him by the Ajayi Crowther University in Oyo.
The volume of the congratulatory messages and the quantum of the attendant goodwill messages that trailed the event as seen on both social and conventional media could deceive undiscerning minds to almost believe or assume that the Ajayi Crowther’s honorary Doctorate Degree was the first for the Governor.
For the records, in 2014, the Achievers University, Owo, conferred on Arakunrin Akeredolu the award of Honorary Doctor of Laws (Honoris Causa).
In 2017, the Governor also bagged a Honorary Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) from the prestigious Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State.
Beyond the shores of Nigeria, the West African Union University, Cotonue, Benin Republic, also conferred on the Governor a Honorary Doctor of Public Administration (Honoris Causa) in 2018.
The latest was that of the Ajayi Crowther’s University, Oyo, where the Governor was conferred with the Doctor of Law (Honoris Causa).
The Ajayi Crowther’s Honorary Doctorate Degree was actually given to the Governor in 2019, but due to the personal and Covid-19 reasons, the ceremony was deferred to 2021.
