Akoda Okegada Ofatedo Road Approval – A dream come true

Sometimes in August last year on a fateful evening, my Oga and Rep Member representing Ede Federal Constituency called me on the line. He gave me a task to go probe on all the background information and history of the station road in Ede which happens to be the only link road that we have in the town.

And under 48 hours hour my report was ready and I forwarded same to him the BS through our internal procedure. He acknowledged receipt and sought that I also liaise with the SSA in Abuja. When I asked questions My Oga Bamidele Salam said he has a passionate ambition to have that road fixed and even got dualized in his time. He said he will be pushing for it on floor of the House of Representatives.

A little above a month later, Mr Bamidele Salam made real his promise when he moved the motion under the privilege of motion for urgent public importance on the floor in September. He had developed the background motion and transformed it to an elaborate blueprint vide his legislative acumen. On that day, later after his performance on the floor, we his Aides watched the video as he moved the motion on Ede station road covering Akoda/Cottage/Agip/Atapara/Okegada/Ofatedo axis. We were very proud that Ede is coming to national prominence in the hallowed chamber.

After the debating, BS did not rest on his oars. He wrote to the FERMA and The Minister for Works Governor Raji Fashola on the Ede road. The Rep Member again wrote again to remind the Minister and requested for his audience even during the lockdown occasioned by Covid-19. The Minister granted the request by the eloquent Honourable representing Ede Federal Constituency and approved for a virtual meeting because of the Covid-19 protocols. Rep BS told some of us that he will talk further with the Minister to graciously allow the meeting to be physical and actual because to have the Ede station road fixed, Honourable Salam did not want to leave anything to chance. He wanted a direct and bankable commitment of Former Governor Fashola who is Minister for Works.

Today after almost one year, we are happy to announce the kind approval of His Excellency the Minister upon the clearance by the FEC under President Muhammad Buhari GCFR. From Akoda up to Ofatedo linking Oshogbo, the rehabilitation will commence anytime from now because we have an effective and ambitious Lawmaker in Messrs Bamidele Salam. Thanks to the FG for making this vision a reality. And it is hoped that after the rehabilitation, the FG will still ensure the dualization of Ede station road.

This is the typical ways of Honourable BS as he trudges on making all the moves and connection to move Ede federal constituency forward in his time as a Rep Member. Only last week he had a virtual meeting with the Vice President of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo GCON over some other development issues within Ede Federal Constituency. He has never stopped lobbying his Boss and Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Rt. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila for a rapid growth of Ede, Egbedore and Ejigbo areas respectively.

The job is paying off. BS is delivering on his campaign promises in sequential order to the glory of God. We thank the people and the platform that gave this opportunity to BS to perform.
