Alapoti High School student caught wearing Igbadi to school

Men of the Ogun State-owned security outfit, So-Safe Corps, have arrested a student of Alapoti High School in Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State for wearing a local spiritual amulet popularly known as ‘igbadi’ to school.

 

The student identified as Bankole Kamoli was arrested in the jungle and brought to the school premises on Tuesday evening.

 

Kamoli, a Secondary School One student was also found guilty of smoking, drinking, gambling, and committing other criminal activities while putting on his school uniform.

 

The picture of Kamoli wearing the spiritual amulet has gone viral on the Internet since his arrest.

When contacted, the school principal, Mrs Orenuga F B, insisted that Kamoli was not a student of the school.



She claimed that Kamoli failed to invite his parents to the school to sign the undertaking form as directed by the state government

 

“The boy is no longer a student of the school because he was not available with his parents to sign the undertaking form as directed by the state government,” she said.

 

The Commander of Ogun State So -Safe Corps, Soji Ganzallo confirmed the arrest.

 

He said, “Bankole Kamoli is with the men of So-Safe Corps in Ado Odo Ota”.

 

The chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) in the local government, Sanjo Akande also confirmed the arrest.

 

He, however, disclosed that Bankole was no longer a student of the school, saying the boy had absconded from the school for a long time and had failed to resume for academic activities for the new term.

 

“The mother of the boy who became worried and fed up with his truant lifestyle personally contacted the men of So – Safe Corps to help her pull the boy off from the jungle where he daily stays with other boys to smoke, drink, gamble and commit several unprintable things.



“The men of So-Safe Corps got hold of him on Tuesday, 25th January, 2022 and brought him to the school compound with his school uniform on him, it was the So-Safe Corp men that saw the local amulet (igbadi) on his waist,” the ASUSS chairman said.

 

When contacted for reaction, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the police command had yet to be briefed on the development.

  1. The boy didn’t commit any crime, it’s unlawful to go against his belief, can you arrest someone for keeping bible in his pocket? The pictures is inappropriate because he didn’t use it unlawfully.
