Alfa Gani Aboto is dead

Popular Islamic Scholar Sheikh Abdulganiyu Nuraini, popularly called Alfa Gani Aboto, is dead.

 

According to report, Sheikh Aboto passed away when a Toyota Corolla Car vehicle he was in lost control and plunged into the Asa river, Opposite Olusola Saraki Abattoir, along Sobi Road in the Ilorin metropolis in Kwara State.

 

The actual time the incident occurred was not known but the rear tyre of the car was discovered to be exposed to the view of passers-by on Friday night.

 

The incident occurred due to the heavy downpour on Friday.

 

RESCUE
The rescue operation began early on Saturday. The corpse of two of the victims was found and recovered from the scene and immediately taken to a mortuary, according to a statement by the Kwara State Fire Service.

 

The car has also been removed from the river.

The three victims involved in the accident were subsequently identified as Sheikh Aboto, Azeez Omoekun, and another person simply identified as Nurudeen.

 

The corpse of Sheikh Aboto has been conveyed to his country home in Aboto, Asa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kwara State, while that of the third person has been taken to the Ilorin Muslim Cemetery for funeral according to the Islamic rite.

 

Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Akerebiata Division, Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and Kwara State Fire Service, were involved in the rescue operation.

 

Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari has expressed sadness over the death of a frontline lslamic preacher, Sheikh Abdulganiy Aboto.

 

The Emir expressed his sadness in a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona on Saturday in Ilorin.

 

Sulu-Gambari described Shiekh Aboto’s demise as a huge loss, adding that it has left another vacuum in Dawah activities of Ilorin emirate and beyond.

 

The traditional ruler recalled the roles played by late Sheikh Aboto in promoting morality, good conducts and fear of God among the people, with reference to the Holy Qur’an and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

 

The Emir added that the deceased sermons were unique, highly intellectual and deeply heart-touching.

“During his lifetime, late Sheikh Aboto touched so many lives through his public lectures during Ramadan, as well as other communities across Nigeria and African continent by extension,” he said.

 

Sulu-Gambari extended his condolence to the entire Adabiyyah family worldwide, family of the deceased, associates and people of Aboto community in Asa Local Government Areea over the death of the pious and highly intellectual scholar.

 

Also, Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in his condolence, described as shocking and sad the deaths Aboto al-Adaby and others.

 

“We received with shock and sadness the deaths of the popular Islamic cleric Sheikh Aboto and a few others whose identities are not yet known. As faithfuls, we accept the judgment of our creator. We beseech Him to grant the scholar and others involved al-jannah Firdaus,” the Governor said in a statement on Saturday.

 

“This, indeed, is one sad news too many. The death of Sheikh Abdulganiy Aboto is a huge loss for the Muslim community and to Ilorin as a whole. He was known for his vast knowledge and great efforts in the propagation of Islamic message in the simplest form possible for his audience.

 

“We send our heartfelt condolences to the Emir of Ilorin Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, the families of the late Sheikh and the others, and the entire Adabiyyah family worldwide. It is our prayer that Allah will grant comfort to all the bereaved families.”
