Angelina Jolie has opened up about the reason behind her split from Brad Pitt.

Iconic celeb partnership Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt split up goes all the way back in 2016, and until now they’ve both remained pretty private on the topic.

However, that seems to have changed as Angelina has opened up about the reasons behind their split in a rare interview with British Vogue.

Explaining the separation, Angelina, 45, revealed that she made the decision because she wanted to focus on the wellbeing of her family and children.

“I separated for the wellbeing of my family. I continue to focus on their healing.”

Angelina Jolie also opened up about the effect the rumours surrounding her split from Brad have had on their six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne.

“Some have taken advantage of my silence, and the children see lies about themselves in the media, but I remind them that they know their own truth and their own minds.”

“In fact, they are six very brave, very strong young people.” And they certainly seem so to us,” she continued.

The star has previously opened up about how her children helped her to find herself again, telling Harper’s Bazaar, “My children know my true self, and they have helped me to find it again and to embrace it. They have been through a lot. I learn from their strength.”

She also revealed how her plans to move away from her US are still dependent on Brad.

She says, “I would love to live abroad and will do so as soon as my children are 18. Right now I’m having to base where their father chooses to live.”
