A hacker group, Anonymous, has hacked the Twitter handle of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The group in the early hours of Friday, tweeted using the NBC official handle, supporting the #EndSARS movement.
“We #Anonymous have taken over all the NG Official Twitter’s Account to support #ENDPOLICEBRUTALITY,” the group said in one of the tweets on the NBC handle.
“WE’RE TOGETHER WITH NIGERIANS. EXPECT UNEXPECTED.”
The group also called on Nigerians to suggest other government websites for hacking as it equally vowed to expose the Nigerian government.
We #Anonymous have taken over all the NG Official Twitter’s Account to support #ENDPOLICEBRUTALITY.
WE’RE TOGETHER WITH NIGERIANS.
EXPECT UNEXPECTED
The group known for hacking repressive government’s website earlier announced its decision to attack Nigerian government agencies’ websites in solidarity with the protesters clamouring for the reformation of the police.
Confirming, the commission on their official Facebook page stated that they have indeed been hacked, adding that the public should disregard the tweets currently on the timeline.
Anonymous had on Thursday infiltrated official website of the Nigeria Police Force. Afterwards, the group released documents containing names, addresses, contacts and account details of hundreds of police officers on a text storage website, pastebin.com.
The group of anonymous hackers has carried out similar coordinated attacks in the United States, Israel, Tunisia, Uganda and some other countries. Its motto is simply “we are anonymous”, referring to its large number of individuals.
