Anti-Party: Members Call For Disciplinary Committee, Punishments of Culprits in Osun

The bubbles generated after the last house of assembly elections in Osun State seem not to have simmered down as angry members of the All Progressives Congress in Egebdore Local Government Area continued to express their dissatisfaction over the anti-party conducts of prominent leaders of the party in the poll.

The aggrieved members appealled to the leader of the party in the state and immediate past governor of Osun State, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, to wade in the anti-party indictment against the identified leaders so as to forestall further indiscipline in the party.

According to them, the erring leaders, led by Alhaji Gbadebo Ajao, were “openly involved in beastly conduct that led to the embarrassing outing of the party in the last assembly election.”

The leaders were accused of selling out the party to the adversary for pittance.

In their words, “Baba Ajao sold the party for 10 bags of rice and undisclosed amount of money. They all worked for the emergence of PDP Candidate, Rotimi Ogunrinade.

“When confronted about his decision to engage in anti-party activities, Baba, who is the apex leader of the party in the local government and federal constituency, explained that he had no choice than to work for Ogunrinade being the son of his long-time friend.”

Ajao was further accused of holding in his home around YTD Primary School, Ido-Osun, a “congratulatory” reception for the PDP Candidate shortly after the declaration of Ogunrinade as the winner of the house of assembly contest.

At the event, “the elated Ajao,” was reported to have “expressed satisfaction over the election of Ogunrinade, saluting him for his gallantry in the poll.”

In another interview with this reporter, a visibly angry member of the party from Ara town, Alhaji Kasali Adewumi, appealed to Oyetola, “to set-up a disciplinary committee forewith to investigate allegations levelled against Alhaji Ajao, Prince Akintola Omolaoye (APC Senatorial Leader in Osun West) and other party leaders in Egbedore and entire state. A delay in dispensing punitive measures against brazen disloyalty of the party leaders is capable of spelling further doom for the party.”

In the assembly election, the Candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC and incumbent legislator for Egbedore state constituency, Hon. Babatunde Ibirogba (Eleniyan) polled 4,497 votes while his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rotimi Ogunrinade, polled 11,303 votes, a result APC supporters claimed was influenced by the anti-party dispositions of some APC leaders in the area.
