APC ATTACKS ON IMO DESPITE DSS INTEL REPORT

Uzodinma to ‘publicly’ name sponsors of Imo insecurity tomorrow

The Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Dingyadi, has confirmed that the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS) actually provided and intelligence (intel) report and alerted that terrorist-like attacks were targeted at the Headquarters of the Police and Prisons in Owerri, the capital of Imo State and other parts of the State.

Dingyadi has been quoted as stating thus in a statement Friday, April 9, 2021: “People are always pointing accusing fingers at the police. This report was not just sent to the police, it was sent to other security agencies and to the government as far as my understanding is concerned. And then the police at that particular time did the best that they could but they were overpowered.”

What could be made out of that statement was that in spite of a prior DSS intelligence alert of the attacks, other units of the security apparatchik and the Government of Imo State were missing in action as only the police confronted the terrorist-like assailants and arsonists.

Such act qualifies for dereliction of duties, betrayal and sabotage. It meets the critical conditions for establishing the conspiracy theory and practice.

Was there a conspiracy? That’s one of the biggest questions the Judicial Panel of Inquiry will answer to unravel the immediate and remote causes of the attacks, arson and jailbreak in Imo State in the earliest hours of Monday, April 5, 2021.

Why did the other security agencies fail to act on the DSS intel report and fortify the targeted hotspots? Why did the Chief Security Officer of the Government of Imo State (if any) fail to act on the DSS intel report that was passed to him? Or did the DSS intel report enter voicemail at Douglas House?

Why was the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Chief Security Officer of Imo State hasty in concluding, without investigations, that it was the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and their Eastern Security Network (ESN) that perpetrated the dastardly act? Why did then they recant on that after their misinformation?

We hear that it was that act of delivering judgement on a matter before hearings commenced on it that warranted the eventual ousting of the IGP, the Commissioner of Police, Imo State, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, and an Assistant Commissioner of Police!

However, we notice that the Chief Security Officer of the Government of Imo State, who was equally guilty of careless talk about the brains behind the terror-like attacks, is still in office.

We also notice that still in office is Imo Commissioner for Information and Strategy, who invoked the conclusive confirmatory report that indeed it was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State that sponsored the terror-like attacks and arson in Imo State.

Our argument is that if the falsehood, propaganda and blackmail that emerged from the incident could cost the IGP, DC, AC and etcetera their jobs, the falsehood, propaganda and blackmail by the Chief Security Officer of Government of Imo State and his Commissioner for Information and Strategy should cost them their jobs were they to be in normal sane climes.

That returns us back to the notion of the theory and practice of conspiracy in the entire debacle and brouhaha.

Until proven otherwise, the observable and verifiable truth is that, as insinuated by Dingyadi, the Minister of Police Affairs, a conspiracy theory and practice was orchestrated and perpetrated by the security agencies and government. The entire conspiracy and shirking of responsibility must be forensically investigated!

It’s gross injustice to give a dog a bad name in order to find a reason to hang it. The conspiracy, betrayal and sabotage of Imo, and supervising the unleashing of terror-like attacks, arson and jailbreak upon the State, is a sheer case of giving Imo people a collective bad name in order to find reason to decimate them through acts of terrorism. God forbid!

Most probably, if the other security agencies and government had appropriately acted and responded to the DSS intel report as did the Nigeria Police, the federal security aparatchik may have put in ample resistance and prevented the bull eye successes scored by the terrorist-like attackers, arsonists and jailbreakers.

Instructively, the IPOB and ESN have overtly denied responsibility for the fatal attacks, arson and jailbreak, putting their accusers and detractors under severe pressure of shame and disgrace.

What seems to be the next plausible thing for Government to do now is accept failure, apologize to Imo people and Nigerians, and thereafter promptly constitute a Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the incident.

Government pushing hypocritical buttons of self-justification on the incident, which has clear red flag indicators of Government’s culpable complicity, is a self-immolating exercise in gimmickry.

That’s moreso now that the APC regime in Imo State came out publicly to accuse an APC chieftain in Imo of sponsoring terrorist-like attacks, arson and jailbreak in Imo. Hence, it’s a case of APC conspiring to attack Imo!

Let me come and be going! There’s a lot of walking for me to do, coupled with a dance I must dance in the market square!

By God’s grace, Imo State must be rebuilt!!
