APGA mourns Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu

Ikemba! Forever In Our Minds

On this day in 2011, the World woke up in the morning to a shocking News of the death of a Legend, Motivator, Inspiration and Extraordinary Leader, Man of his People, His Excellency Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Ezeigbo Gburugburu, ‏the then Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Leader of APGA!

The unpleasant News had been broken to me about 4 am on that fateful day by his beloved Wife, Her Excellency Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu through a Phone Call from London.

Immediately, confusion set into mind and the World momentarily appeared to have come to a halt! Hours later, it dawned on me that Ndigbo have lost their priceless Jewel.

The News resonated round the World and the BBC read the News round the Clock. The whole Igbo Nation came to a standstill in palpable Grief! Glowing Tributes poured in from all over the Nation, both from friends and foes alike!

The News dominated the Nigerian Media Space until his Interment on the 2nd of March, 2012 and beyond!

So, it is said in Igboland that two Days are most important in the Life of a man; the day of his birth and the day of his death!

Earlier, on the 4th of November, we celebrated the Birth of this Sage and on this day, the 26th of November, with sullen hearts, we remember his Death!

Remarkably, as usual with most Outstanding Personalities in History, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu the Great came in November and left in November!

EZEIGBO, the void your departure created in the Igbo Indomitable Spirit of Struggle for Self Emancipation is yet to be filled!

We remember you today with gratitude to God Almighty for your Gift to us and the selfless Service and Leadership which you rendered to Ndigbo!

God thrust upon you the Task of Leading the way at our most distressful Moment as a People! You rose to the Challenge and led from the Front!

Your Leadership will remain an elixir to our determination to continue the Fight for Justice to reign in our Land!

We miss you and love you dearly!

May your Gallant Soul continue to rest in Paradise!

APGA will forever celebrate you!

From your Disciple,

Senator Dr Victor Umeh.
