AYO BASKETBALL CHARITY FOUNDATION HOLDS FIRST SUCCESSFUL 30 ELITE CAMP IN LAGOS, NIGERIA

Ayo Charity Foundation, founded by former LMU college basketball student, Ayodeji Egbeyemi, held its first Annual 30 Elite Basketball Camp in Lagos Nigeria on Friday 9th to Sunday 11th of August 2019.

Thirty (30) male youth campers were mentored, trained and drilled for 3 days at the Ilupeju Basketball Court and the National Stadium respectively.

The campers were selected after a 2-day screening exercise which was very thorough and precise to the calibre of kids being targeted. The aim was to get young basketball hopefuls who had good character, were in school and of course had potential in the game.

PREVIOUS PROJECTS OF THE FOUNDATION

Ayo Basketball Charity Foundation was launched last year, and has over the course of the year run 2 successful basketball clinics in the Oworonshoki area of Lagos – The first held on the 28th to the 30th of November 2018 while the second clinic was an Easter Camp from the 18th to 19th of April 2019.

The foundation also held a special fundraiser in LA where supporters of the cause gathered at  the Lucky Strike Lane in California to raise some funds for the just concluded 30 Elite Camp.

Ayo Charity Foundation was created to provide life changing opportunities, through the game of basketball, for the youth in Africa and around the world. In this vein, the foundation has also taken up the responsibility to provide accommodation for 3 young kids (2 boys & a girl) to keep them off the streets, and provided them with tuition and free basketball mentorships with the home-based coach; Dele Awonuga.

Basketball teaches sportsmanship, teamwork, work ethic and can even yield in opportunities to improve one’s quality of life. This is what we strive for at Ayo Charity Foundation.

The second 30 Elite Camp will hold in Lagos, Nigeria, in the summer of 2020.
