Bamidele Salam sympathises with Funke Akindele.

Honorable Member, representing Ede North, South/Egbedero/Ejigbo Federal Constituency, in Osun State, Bamidele Salam has expressed sympathy with Funke Akindele after she was arrested by Lagos State Police command for contravening the social distancing directive.

Senator Bamidele Salam, captioned that Funke Akindele is one actress he “like and respect,” and that what happened to her should be seen as a lesson for us all.

He condenmed her of breaking the law and also wish Governor Sanwo-olu will be lenient in justice.

“I sympathise with Funke Akindele in her trying moments. She is one actress I like and respect. Whatever error led her into this is a lesson for us all on the need for those of us who are affluent to understand the mood of our community at each point in time and identify with such mood.”

“Celebrating your husband is very good but it was a wrong season to celebrate in that manner. ”

“Above all, I wish the Governor of Lagos exercises his power of prerogative of mercy to offer her a pardon. Funke deserves it!”

Funke was widely criticised online for the party in her Lagos mansion, held to celebrate the birthday of her husband.

She defended Saturday’s party, saying that everyone who was there had been living in her house for several days.

“Nobody came from their house to party with us,” she said in a video shared on her Twitter feed.

However, she did apologise and promised to practise social distancing.

Akindele and her husband pleaded guilty to violating the lockdown restrictions in a Lagos court, according to a statement from Lagos State police.

As well as the fine, the couple have also been ordered to do 14 days of community service stipulating that they should both visit 10 important public places within Lagos state to educate the public on the consequences of not complying with restriction orders imposed by the government.

They were also told to submit the names and contact details of everyone else who attended the event.

Singer Naira Marley, who was also present at the party, is now in police custody.
