Black freedom fighters and liberators who knew they would die in their struggle and were grateful to die with honor.

Here are their last words before they die.
1). Thomas Sankara
He was told that his best friend Blaise Compaoré planned to kill him. He said if it is Blaise Compaoré, my best friend, then I have no depend. “While revolutionaries as individuals can be murdered, you cannot kill ideas. He was assassinated on October 15, 1987. His last words were reportedly, “Shoot me already, coward!” as he was being shot.”

2). Patrice Lumumba, the first democratically elected Prime Minister of the Congo, was assassinated on January 17, 1961. His reported last words were, “Keep your calm and your courage. Long live Congo! Long live Africa!
I know I’m going to die, and I will die with my head high above, with undistracted faith in my people’s destiny and a belief that the history of Congolese will be said my condolence then to live in humility and denounce the doctrine that I consider sacred. He was then killed, and his body drowned in acid.

3). Dr. John Garang de Mabior
“Our blood will be shed because of hate, oppression, and marginalization of our people, but I will not enjoy the fruit of our struggles. After our job is done, that generation will take over; they will cut a piece of land with pangas and sell it cheaply for a bottle of beer”.
And now I leave the world hereafter to those who claim to have divine qualification.

4). Martin Luther de King Jr
“And so I’m happy tonight; I’m not worried about anything; I do not fear any man. My eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord, for I have seen the promised land. I may not get there, will you, and you people will get there. He was killed the following day.

5). Kwame Nkrumah, the first President of Ghana and a leader in the Pan-African movement, died on April 27, 1972. His last words were reported, “I am restful; I am quiet.”

6). Nelson Mandela: “The struggle is my life. I will continue fighting for freedom until the end of my days.”

7). Samora Machel, the first President of Mozambique and a Marxist revolutionary, died in a plane crash on October 19, 1986. His reported last words, spoken over the radio to his pilots, were, “I am coming home.”

8). Dedan Kimathi, a leader in the Mau Mau Uprising against British colonial rule in Kenya, was captured and executed on February 18, 1957. His reported last words were, “It is meaningless to ask me to surrender, for I have given my life to my people.”

9). Chris Hani, a South African anti-apartheid activist and leader of the South African Communist Party was assassinated on April 10, 1993. His last words were reported, “I am not afraid of death. I am only sorry for the pain and sorrow it will cause my family.”

10). Ahmed Sékou Touré, the first President of Guinea and a leader in the African independence movement, died on March 26, 1984. His last words were reported, “I have fulfilled my mission; I am at peace.”

11). Ahmed Ben Bella, the first President of Algeria and a leader in the Algerian War of Independence against French colonial rule, died on April 11, 2012. His last words were reported, “I leave behind me a flag with colors that symbolize the sacrifices of the martyrs who fell for the dignity of the Algerian people.”

12). Julius Nyerere, the first President of Tanzania and a leader in the Pan-African movement, died on October 14, 1999. His last words were reported, “I have tried my best.”

13). Steve Biko: “It is better to die for an idea that will live than to live for an idea that will die.”

14). Amílcar Cabral, revolutionary leader of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde, was assassinated on January 20, 1973. His reported last words were, “Tell my people that I love them and that they must continue the fight.”
