Blessing Mathias: More suspects have arrested by the Nigeria Police

Two (2) more suspects have been arrested by the Nigeria Police on connection to the assault on 20-year-old girl, Blessing Mathias in Lafia, Nasarawa State on Friday.

 

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued in Lafia on Saturday.

 

Nansel said the arrest was in continuation of the relentless pursuit of all suspects connected to the case of the assault that was captured in a video that has gone viral.

 

The suspects, Bob Praise Ayokhai, a 23-year-old student of Microbiology with the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) and 21-year-old brother, Saint-Dan Ayokhai, were arrested for being parties to the commission of the dastardly act.

“The Command wishes to assure members of the public that no stone will be left unturned in the course the investigation as all outcome will be made public,’’ he added.

 

The police had earlier arrested their father, Dr. Fred Ekpa Ayokhai, an associate professor with the department of History and International Studies, FULafia over the dastardly act.

 

Also arrested and currently cooling off in Police cell was Ayokhai’s daughter, Emmanuela who had misunderstanding with the victim over a man named IG (believed to be married).

 

The victim accused Emmanuela of snatching her supposed boyfriend and assaulted her. In retaliation, Emmanuela mobilised her family, went after the victim and got her assaulted as well.
