Gbetu TV (News They Are Not Talking About)
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the 2022 disbursement proposals and guidelines for public higher institutions across the country.
The Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Arch. Sunday Echono, disclosed this while receiving the Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (CVCNU) in Abuja on Thursday.
The money was approved amid the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
Echono said the meeting of all beneficiary institutions will be held by next week to interact further and brief on the proposed reforms that have been approved for implementation.
In addition, some good and sad news here:
The good news is that the release of these funds by Buhari, is for special TETfund projects and the government is carrying it out as it ought to.
The sad news is that, these funds are not for ASUU but for all tertiary institutions including Colleges, Polytechnics then the Universities.
So, these funds cannot determined whether the lingering strike would be call off or not, only the outcome of next week meeting would determine that as ASUU has agreed to resumes talks with FG next week.
