Cardi B Announces New Single - and a "Surprise" - For Fans

Cardi B is back releasing new music. For the first time in over a year, the “Up” rapper is releasing a new solo single titled “Hot Sht,” set to release this Friday. “My new single ‘Hot Sht’ available everywhere THIS FRIDAY 7/1 🚨🚨,” Cardi B announced via Instagram on Sunday.

She teased the news of the Tay Keith-produced song alongside a cinematic visual of her overlooking New York City in a superhero-style outfit; the words “Coming soon, Cardi B, July 1” ran across the screen in neon orange letters. Cardi B’s announcement also teased that she has “another surprise” for her fans that she plans to share on Monday at 8pm.

“Hot Sh*t” will arrive ahead of Cardi B’s long-awaited follow-up to her Grammy-winning debut, “Invasion of Privacy.” The forthcoming sophomore album will be the rap star’s first album release in over four years.

In an April 2021 XXL interview, Cardi B opened up about the process of recording her new album. “I feel like at this point, it’s like a timeline that I created,” she told the outlet of the album’s release schedule. “Because last year, I was like, I gotta put out my album this year. But, then I just stopped working on my album out of nowhere because I feel like the whole COVID thing discouraged me to put out my album.”

Over the last year, Cardi B has welcomed her son, Wave Set Cephus, and hopped on two singles – Kay Flock’s drill anthem “Shake It” and Summer Walker and SZA’s “No Love” remix. Now, fans can’t wait to hear what she has up her sleeve for her own catalog.

The move comes in advance of Cardi’s long-awaited second full-length album, which follows her 2018 debut “Invasion of Privacy.” She’s released a string of collaborations in the intervening years: last year’s blockbuster tag team with Megan Thee Stallion, “WAP” and her most recent features, the drill track “Shake It” (with Kay Flock, Dougie B and Bory300) and the 2021 duet with Lizzo, “Rumors.”

On Playboy’s Centerfold platform, Cardi confirmed “WAP” and 2021’s “Up” will be featured on her new album.

Little official information about Cardi’s long-awaited album has been released. For her part, Cardi has not been in a hurry. “I feel like at this point, it’s like a timeline that I created,” she told XXL last year.

“Because last year I was like: ‘I gotta put out my album this year,’ but, then I just stopped working on my album out of nowhere because I feel like the whole COVID thing discouraged me to put out my album. Because I want to put out an album, and I want to tour.” And, as always, she’s managed to keep herself in the headlines. She revealed her most recent pregnancy during her performance with Migos on the BET Awards in June of last year.

Meanwhile, Cardi B gave it hot to someone who said to her after she posted a dancing video that, “Your daughter is literally autistic and you’re on stan twitter instead of making sure she’s not sticking her finger in outlets.”

In the now deleted tweet, Cardi B replied, “My daughter is not autistic,.

“You can’t call her ugly, so y’all have to diagnose her with something. Go play in traffic, bitch.”

30,40,50 …Don’t bring my kids up on shit…This is all because I put a video of me dancing and y’all wanted me to talk about rod vs wade …WHY YALL BRING UP KIDS FOR? Wtf my kids gotta do wit yall misery?
