According to reports, Chelsea is reportedly ready to offer a loan contract to Antoine Griezmann From Barcelona.
Chelsea is making plans to sign Antoine Griezmann on loan from Barcelona. The Daily Express says the Blues could use the 30-year-old’s France team-mate Kurt Zouma as a possible swap deal to sign Griezmann.
The Catalan club is understood to be looking to offload the 30-year-old forward this summer, who is now the club’s highest earner on around £294,000 a week after Lionel Messi officially became a free agent this month.
Barca president Joan Laporta has been instructed by La Liga chiefs to reduce their wage bill and balance their books before the 2021-22 campaign begins, to comply with financial fair play regulations.
Spanish media outlet Sport, as quoted by The Daily Express, is reporting that FC Barcelona is looking to offload Griezmann this summer to get the France international’s salary off their wage bill.
The same article states that Griezmann has emerged as a potential target for Chelsea FC as the Blues look to improve Thomas Tuchel’s frontline in this current transfer window.
Griezmann, who joined Barcelona from Atletico for £107m in July 2019, made 51 appearances across all competitions during the 2020-21 campaign, scoring 20 goals and providing 13 assists.
According to Sport, the La Liga giants are looking to loan Griezmann out for the upcoming season and will allow him to return to Camp Nou in 2022.
The Spanish publication writes that Chelsea would be receptive to such a deal if their Erling Haaland pursuit fails.
