Children’s Day Celebration: Oye Describes Children As Heritage From God

May 27 of every year has been set aside in Nigeria as Children’s Day. The day is designed to celebrate, cherish, love, and appreciate children. Unfortunately, this year’s open celebration has been cancelled owing to Covid-19 pandemic.

In his goodwill message to mark the day the national chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Ozonkpu Dr. Victor Ike Oye (Ozochikwadolu Amawbia) enjoined parents, guardians and religious bodies to cater to the welfare of the children by impacting in them adequate home training, moral instructions needed to make them useful to themselves, families, and society at large.

The APGA Boss who described the children as heritage from God, appealed to the parents, guardians to work hard in nurturing and training their children and wards in a way that would benefit humanity as well as glorify the name of God.

Dr. Victor Ike Oye while celebrating the children, admonished them to be respectful, obedient and take their studies seriously, noting that it was only through quality education, good conduct and sound morals that they could attain their full potentialities.

Ozonkpu Oye called on the government at all levels to come up with children-friendly policies that would equip the children and wards for future challenges.

“Government should provide basic amenities and infrastructure to take care of Nigerian children and to enable them to compete favourably with their peers globally.”

“Parents should also monitor the environment and health of their children owing to the coronavirus pandemic by making sure that all the healthcare safety measures announced by the health and security authorities are religiously observed,” Oye exhorted.

He prayed God to protect children from any harm, especially from the COVID-19 which, he said, had kept the children at home for months and had equally impeded the celebration of this year’s Children’s Day.
