House of Representatives member, Chris Azubogu, has emerged as the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Anambra South.
Azubogu currently represents Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo federal constituency.
He polled 116 votes at the primary election held in Awka to defeat closest rival Emmanuel Nwachukwu (113 votes).
Other contestants, Ben Nwankwo scored 75 votes while Akachukwu Nwamkpo got 44, NAN reports.
The Returning Officer, Steve Nwoka, said 348 delegates voted at the election; there was no void vote.
Azubogu said he would double his efforts to ensure that APGA wins the senatorial election in 2023.
He thanked the delegates and hailed Governor Chukwuma Soludo for providing a level playing field.
The three-time serving Rep, won past elections on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform.
Azubogu joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) before the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra.
The lawmaker later defected to APGA in January after Soludo was declared winner of the poll.
