Congress: PDP Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA debunks apology and alleged attack

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA of Lagos state have trashed an alleged apology and attack on its member during recently held congress.

According to the talked about statement purportedly signed by the newly elected executives of PDP Ajeromi_Ifelodun under the leadership of Apostle Mathew Abogunde and circulated by the Publicity Secretary, Ajeromi_Ifelodun local government, Hon Chinedu Ezugha, the the congress was disrupted by some “some unscrupulous elements”.

The statement reads further;

“We noted that one Mrs Yemisi, the newly elected Ward A Chairman AJIF LGA was attacked and physically assaulted by two individuals from Ajif LGA in the full glare of party stalwarts, delegates, leaders and elders present.

“The sponsor of those thugs later called his boys to order, admonished them seriously and publicly apologised to Mrs Yemisi and we all breathed a sigh of relief. Unbeknownst to us, that was just a tip of the iceberg as Mrs Yemisi was not their main target.

“The arrival of the People’s Rep (Hon Barr Rita Boluwatife Orji) brought immeasurable joy to party faithfuls, delegates and observers present and led to rendition of different songs of praises from the entire 20 local governments as the masses danced and sang happily.

“This open show of love for the great Mama Ajegunle infuriated some individuals (Apc in PDP apparel) and they unleashed their mad dogs on innocent party stalwarts destroying chairs, Canopies and other equipments while also injuring as many as possible.

“Fortunately, a stampede was avoided as all the delegates ran for their lives and the entire process was put to a halt leading to a Cancellation and postponement of the Lagos State PDP party congress.

“Ajeromi_Ifelodun PDP faithfuls are very peaceful individuals as evidenced in the very peaceful Ward and LGA party congresses conducted across the local government. We will not allow a handful of thugs purportedly sponsored by agents of Apc to deprive us of the peace we enjoy at Ajeromi_Ifelodun LGA.

“The party executives at Ajeromi/Ifelodun LGA promises to assist Security agents in fishing out these thugs from their shitholes and to utilise every legal means available in ensuring that the perpetrators are brought to book.

Once again, we apologise to every peace loving member of PDP AJIF LGA, Lagos State and National PDP .”

But, in a statement signed by Comrade Adams Taofeek, (another) PDP publicity Secretary, Ajeromi Ifelodun LGA, states that none of the above is true.

According to Comr Taofeek, it “dishearting for a particular person to drag the good people of Ajeromi Ifelodun to the mud for cheap recognitions.”

It added that, “We need to state clearly that the cancelation of our state congress was never as a result of his claim but inability of state leaders to agree due to following observations

  • That the gate was forcefully opened to the voting arena without proper accredition, which will leads to over voting

  • That the congress venue was infiltrated with delegates and non delegates.

  • Some leaders call for harmonization of state exco list wish was not generally agreed.

This and others was the reasons raised by Hon Benson who was the chairman state congress committee.”

The party thereby implore members to “be calm as we await the new date for our dear state congress.”
