Dele Momodu Declares For 2023 Presidency

Publisher and newspaper columnist, Dele Momodu, on Thursday officially notified the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of his intention to vie for the presidential ticket of the party.

He was at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja to formally present his letter of intent to the national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.

He said he did so because he could not become the president unless his political party first nominates him.

Receiving him in his office, the party boss welcomed him and assured that the PDP would provide a level-playing field for all aspirants.

Ayu expressed delight that Momodu has brought his political and media experience to the party and urged him to seek the support of the party members.

He said the party would support him if he emerges as its candidate and will expect all other aspirants to team up with whoever becomes the standard-bearer of the party.

Also announcing his ambition on 12th January is Mazi Sam Ohuabunwa, a Nigerian pharmacist, politician and business executive.

According to the founder and former CEO of Neimeth Pharmaceutical;

“On the 12th of January 2022, I made a courtesy visit to the Board of Trustees Chairman of the Official Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nigeria Sen Walid Jibrin to intimate him with my intention to run for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the platform of our great party.”

Moreso, running again is Kingsley Moghalu who said he forgot to inform the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), of his intention to run for President in the 2023 general elections.

“I forgot to inform President @Mbuhari that I am running for President. But I informed Nigerians, of whom he is one, so no wahala (problem)!” he tweeted.

Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was the presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party in 2019 but he lost the election to Buhari.

He joined the African Democratic Congress in 2021 and declared his intention to run for the exalted office in Aso Villa again in 2023.

Moghalu’s tweet followed the declaration by All Progressives Congress National Leader, Bola Tinubu; and Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi; that they would be running for President in 2023.

The two APC members had separately visited Buhari in Aso Villa this week and informed the President of their intention to contest the next presidential election.
