Desmond Elliot wants celebrities and influencers to cutdown Hate Narratives

Earlier on Monday, 26th October, Lagos State lawmaker, Desmond Elliot, was dragged for allegedly supporting an anti-social media bill.

According to this accusation made by a tweeter influencer –

The Lagos State House of Assembly is developing a bill to regulate and control speech on social media. Desmond Elliot is said to be one of those pushing this.

So the plan is to deny the Lekki Massacre and then start arresting anyone who tweets about it?

What is wrong with us?

Several youths who see Desmond Elliot as hope for the Nigerian youth express their disappointment. Their grievances are hinged on their belief that he should be on the side of the youths in that he is also a youth.

Mr Elliot is famous for few interesting topics as a politician.

Here are some of their comments –

@TunnyKvng wrote, “Desmond Elliot is a proof that a young person could be the President of this country and still fail us.”

@AceDouglas1 tweeted, “Desmond Elliot is a clear example of Power will always change people💔”

@DrOlufunmilayo wrote, “The Lagos State House of Assembly is developing a bill to regulate and control speech on social media. Desmond Elliot is said to be one of those pushing this.

@HelloMike01 tweeted, “A bill to regulate Social Media Post is being pushed by Desmond Elliot. I thought he was one of us. I thought he was for the people. What did we do to deserve this in this country?”

@Omotolaa22 wrote, “It’s because of people like Desmond Elliot we might never give banky w a chance.”

Refuting the the alleged claim Hon. Elliot says –

“Its not true Period.”

He however said the only comment he made towards social media was for social media influencers, motivational speakers and celebrities to cutdown on the hate narrative.

Watch below –

Burtresing on Desmond Elliot’s defence, Ayobami Ayobami (@dondekojo) posted –

“Today’s plenary session that Desmond Elliot demanded for social media restriction and blamed Influencers for garbage was live on http://Lagoshouseofassembly.gov.ng/live

But the video never played.

The Lawmaker then took to social media again, after the video, posting with caption below –

These are the prayers of the house
No resolution on social media

Other comments after his defence:

Desmond Elliot is a proof that a young person could be the President of this country and still fail us.

You are feeling pains just because of what someone tweeted or commented, but your party and gods fathers, killed innocent protesters who was asking for peace and protection, So APC members think that we will forget it and believe in their usual lies, people are pain. And it will never be well with Nigeria politicians.

What do you mean by hate narrative? Did they post anything that didn’t happen? Are you among the leaders that wants the citizens to be blind from what is currently happening in Nigeria? If you can’t fully support us in this goal, remove your mouth from it. We need a new Nigeria. ✊

You are APC and we don’t trust any of you…by yourself(APC) have created mistrust and has misled the people on several occasions…we voted you to stood your ground to defend the people but you have been so silence…you have dined with them…single out yourself, speak the truth even if you have to speak against them, even if it will cost you your political career, let’s hear your voice on some crucial issue where the justice of the people about to be manipulated….soro soke…

Wether lie or not there is no smoke without fire and behind every rumour there is always an iota of truth….you said you only said bla bla bla that is a hint that you guys deliberated on the said rumour or something similar. We ain’t stupid bro.
