Dino Melaye’s Passion and Mission to Rebuild Kogi ~ IDOWU SOWUNMI

Senator Dino Melaye means different things to various people, depending on the telescopic personality lense you’re viewing him from.

While some people usually commend his courage, articulation and artistic personality, others would waste no time to dismiss him and never bother to look back.

Regardless of the lense one is wearing, Dino Melaye has become a household name and the image may not disappear so soon from the Nigerian political firmament.

To clear air on his personality and brand of politics, Dino Melaye admitted to the fact he is not error-free. “I’m not always right but I’m always passionate,” he said.

This, perhaps, may be the reason why Dino Melaye’s entry into the governorship race in Kogi State has changed the permutations in the Confluence State and the political calculations may never remain the same.

If the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decides to feature Dino Melaye as its governorship candidate and the All Progressives Congress (APC) settles for incumbent Governor Yahaya Bello, the Kogi State gubernatorial election fixed for November 16 would not only be interesting, but also the attendant electioneering campaigns leading to the poll would be very entertaining and dramatic.

While obtaining his expression of interest and nomination forms at the PDP National Secretariat on July 4 in Abuja, Dino Melaye said his administration would rebuild and refocus the economy of the state if given the mandate.

“I am here to fix Kogi. We will bring back hope and unity among the people of Kogi State. It’s not my ambition but the ambition of the people.

“We have passion for the people of Kogi State and I have proven that beyond a reasonable doubt. The battle to rescue our state is a battle of no retreat, no surrender,” Melaye said.

The time is ticking and the November 16 is drawing near. It’s obvious that this is going to be a straight contest between APC and PDP.  The answer to a poser over who would win at the end of the day is in the womb of time.
