Ahead of the Anambra PDP gubernatorial primary election slated for 26th June 2021, Dr. Godwin Maduka hosted PDP 326 Ward women leaders in his Awka office where he continued to engage the women on his plans to transform Anambra State if they support him to become the flag bearer of the PDP for the November 6th general election.
Dr. Godwin Maduka presented to the PDP women leaders, his plans for Anambra State especially as it concerns the women; DR. MADUKA’S ADMINISTRATION WILL STRENGTHEN THE THE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN AFFAIRS TO TACKLE THE CORE CHALLENGES WOMEN FACE IN THE SOCIETY
Investing in the economic empowerment of women, sets a direct path towards gender equality, poverty eradication and inclusive economic growth. A saying goes thus, when you empower a woman, you empower a community. Women make enormous contributions to economies, whether in businesses or Agriculture, as entrepreneurs or employees, and even as they do unpaid care work at home.
There are major structural, legal and social barriers to women’s empowerment in public life. Lack of visibility and uneven work-life balance arrangements make it especially hard for women to be active in some sectors of the society.
Dr. Maduka understands the role of women in building a sustainable economy, this is why he has assured that his government will prioritize Women and Youth Empowerment to contribute towards the reduction of unemployment, among the youth and women, through the creation of employment opportunities in a number of areas, including agrobusiness value chains.
In his words, “Anambra under my watch will make Agriculture a major source of revenue for the State, through which we can boost our Economy, create employment for our Youths. We will actively engage our women in the agricultural revolution we’re bringing to Anambra”.
According to Onwurah Chinonso Anthony, Media Aide to Dr. Godwin Maduka, the PDP women leaders welcomed Dr. Godwin Maduka’s message and appreciated him for developing such a wonderful plans for the women should he become Anambra State Governor, they equally prayed God to actualize his gubernatorial ambitions.
