Edo Govt  pays 1986-2021 Pension Arrears

The Edo State Government has announced the immediate release of the sum of one billion, five hundred and nine million, three hundred and thirty three thousand, seven hundred and seventy six naira, twenty six kobo (N1,509,333,776.26k) for the payment of all outstanding pension arrears to the affected 1,559 pensioners for the period of 1986-2021.

 

The announcement was contained in a State Government Special Announcement signed by the Permanent Secretary/ Chairman, Local Government Pensions Bureau, W.O. Abbe, and made available to journalists by the Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare, in Benin City, on Monday, January 23, 2023.

 

The Permanent Secretary said: “This is to inform all Edo State Local Government Pensioners that the State Government has graciously approved the immediate release of the sum of N1, 509,333,776.26k (One Billion, Five Hundred and Nine million, Three Hundred and Thirty Three Thousand, Seven Hundred and Seventy Six Naira, Twenty Six Kobo) only, for the payment of all outstanding pension arrears to the affected 1,559 pensioners for the period of 1986 – 2021.”

 

The statement added that “The affected pensioners are by this announcement requested to avail the Local Government Pensions Bureau with the following documents on or before 27th January, 2023:

iv. Pensioners I.D. Card
v. Photocopies of Biometric and Pay Advice
vi. Bank Statements from Date of Retirement to 31stDecember, 2022”.

 

The State Government urged the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) to take note of the information.
