The chairman of Mutual Benefits Assurance and a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi on Monday, 11th November, felicitated with Muslims across Nigeria on the 2019 celebration of Eid el-Maulud.
Dr Akin Ogunbiyi congratulated Muslim ummah in a press statement personally signed by him, urging them to emulate the exemplary lifestyle of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by making their words their bound and by living true to the Prophet’s virtues of love and togetherness.
He added that the Prophet left a remarkable and shining example of altruism and trust, stressing that these are not a coincidence but a guide to a peaceful co-existence and development.
Ogunbiyi says, “Lack of trust, love, fear of God and greed are major threats to growth and peace. The absence of these do not only breed negativity in the country but also hinder self-actualisation and collective development where care is not taken.”
Akin Ogunbiyi appealed to political office holders and privileged individuals in Nigeria and Osun, in particular, to rise to the need of the people and to use their resources for the common good of all.
He added that, “Our nation is in dire need of redemption and we all have roles to play. Flying in the air and wrongly assuming that all is well on the land is a clear pointer to the dreadful gap between the rulers and the ruled. Even the blind knows that the land is not in its optimum state.”
“Importantly, people who survive under breathtaking direct and indirect taxes deserve basic infrastructural facilities and social services. To Leave within the virtues and teachings of the Holy Prophet is for us all, not a section of the society to the exclusion of the rulers.”
Dr. Ogunbiyi called on Muslim faithful, political office holders and spirited Nigerians to align themselves with the Prophet’s teachings and wishes them a joyous and peaceful Eid-el Maulud. Eid el-Maulud is the celebration of the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
