EKSU SUG speaks on Disengagement of University Staffs

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE STABLE OF EKSU SUG LED BY COMR. GBADERO HABEEB OLUWASEYI (Team REALITY)

Friday, 13th of December, 2019

Combatants greetings to you all in the name of Aluta, the mother of all Struggles

The Vice chancellor
Principal members of the university management

Following the recent disengagement of staff of our university, the student union government of Ekiti state university has been able to come up with the following observation and recommendation.

The recent disengagement of a few members of staff of the university has caused radical reactions from students, who have been quick to show their displeasure in the recent development, and their great concern for their academic life and the institution. At the end, students will be at the receiving end of this very unprecedented audacious decision made by the governing council of the University at the most delicate time.

The affected members of staff include: current Deans, Heads of Departments, Level Coordinators, Project supervisor’s and current Lecturers of courses whose examinations students are currently writing. The institution lost her portal and that alone created enough issues with results and disturbed many of our graduating students. Many of the members of staff sorting this huge problem have been disengaged from their duties leaving students very confused and uncertain about almost everything concerning their results and their sorting, as well as many other negative impacts this will have on their academic life. The decision to disengage over 1000 staff members at a time like this is very detrimental to the students of this University.

As tension has began to build up amongst the students, we, in line with the 3C’s principle of Consultation and consolidation before confrontation, urge the management to see the need to meet with the leadership of students to discuss this recent development, and assure us of the well being of students’ academic life and the university as a whole.

We wish to reaffirm our confidence in our ever reasonable, ever educated, ever sagacious, ever dedicated, ever reliable and ever corrosive combatant forces, as we are ready to resist things detrimental to our academic life. We, hereby, beseech the principal members of the management to clinically review the decision of the panel for the interest of Nigerian students.

We wish to pass a vote of confidence on professor Edward Olanipekun for his leadership role as the 8th substantive vice Chancellor of Ekiti university. It is expected of any new administration to inherit various challenges they never created. We wish him more courage to face these challenges well and shoulder the huge responsibility of his office.

We also sincerely sympathise with the disengaged staff members. We hope this decision is reviewed and it’s outcome become positive for you.

Thanks!

Signed:
