EndSARS: Lagos State imposes Curfew, Lagosians defiles it alongside the Military

Following an attack at Orile Iganmu Police station on Tuesday, the Lagos State Government led by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu imposed a curfew on the state.

According to Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the protest is disturbing the “well-being of our society.”

Only essential service providers and first responders will be allowed on the streets of Lagos, which has an estimated population of more than 20 million people.

The attack which was orchestrated by hoodlums left some parts of the Orile-Iganmu Police station burning with no policeman running in or out for hours.

“Dear Lagosians,

I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful #EndSARS protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society. Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our state. As a government that is alive to its responsibility and has shown a commitment to the movement #ENDSARS, we will not watch and allow anarchy in our dear state.

“I hereby impose a 24-hour curfew on all parts of the State as from 4pm today, 20th October, 2020. Nobody, except essential service providers and first responders must be found on the streets.”

To justify his point further, the Governor, tweeted with photos from the scene –

“Watching these videos is a major heartbreak for me personally and as Governor, I cannot watch as arsonists, hoodlums and anarchists continue to hide under the #EndSars protest to unleash mayhem on the State and wantonly disrupt citizens lives and property.

As at the time of this report, both the Governor, State and Police mentioned nothing about investigating reason that led to the attack.

Demonstrators have taken part in daily protests across the country for nearly two weeks over widespread claims of kidnapping, harassment and extortion by a police unit known as the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Meanwhile a video uploaded on Tuesday evening, around 4pm shows the protester moving in solidarity on military vehicles around Alausa Ikeja.

One of the military personnel can also be seen clearly with a ‘fist up high’.

A Video by Omoyele Sowore confirms this –
