Everything that happened in Kogi had State Protection

Everything that happened in Kogi had State Protection.

From my observations on the recent kogi elections, the ominous signs were apparent even before the sham labelled as elections.

1. How can it be explained that thugs were present at an occasion in which the IGP was also present, and even molested a gubernatorial candidate unchallenged?

2. While the thugs that attacked the hotel where the Oyo Governor was lodged were successfully repelled by men of the same police force.

3. The thugs in kogi were less than 1000, police had over 30000 men on ground yet thugs operated unchallenged and conducted the elections.

4. Why were the police protection with the Oyo Governor able to repel thugs yet those on election duty just watched helplessly.

In summary, everything that happened had state protection. Its sad, the matter had been devolved to who won or lost. Its more about the bastardization of the electoral system. And it’s also a waste of resources to seek judicial relief. Nigeria is fast approaching a state of total collapse of it’s institutions and a descend into anarchy and self help.

The country is fast approaching a stage where there’s no need for elections under this dispensation. And if there’s no genuine political will towards electoral and judicial reforms, there may be no elections in 2023.
