FFK is seeking Peter Obi’s attention

If there is anything that gives Femi Fani-Kayode (FFK) serious chills, it is the realization that Peter Obi might be his next President and he is doing everything to ensure he gets the man’s attention. For one, Fani-Kayode is a suspected common thief on trial for several acts of stealing resources meant for national development, and beyond wanting to stay relevant within the scheme of things, he will want some form of political security from whoever wins the presidency.

Detest him like I do, but you must give him credit for being one of the best at the professions he has chosen for himself; political marketing, conspiracy theory, reputation management, propaganda and character assassination. To be clear, these are legitimate jobs, anywhere in the world. They are as legitimate as being a lawyer, a medical doctor or even a military officer or mercenary. FFK is clearly one of the best at it, only that this time around, he is clearly swimming against the tide.

As a smart professional and businessman, FFK is looking to secure some relevance in the incoming presidency of Peter Obi, but from everything he has been able to glean he is afraid that a President Peter Obi won’t be swayed by propaganda and will most likely not patronize his likes, so, he is doing two things at a time; while he sustains the vicious attacks on Peter Obi’s character and candidacy, he is also exploiting any little opening for rapprochement with his administration when he comes into power from May 29th, 2023.

If anything, FFK is guaranteed of respite from his numerous criminal investigations and prosecutions if by any electoral magic, Tinubu becomes President, because Tinubu himself is also a regular customer of the EFCC. His administration will be one of massive amnesty for public thieves and unprecedented impunity. FFK was almost walking into Kuje or Kirikiri before he swerved to the APC and all his files with the EFCC seem to be gathering dust already. We no longer hear of his appearance in court or any invitations or invasion of his residence by EFCC operatives. Do not be shocked if before Buhari leaves to Daura, one court discharges FFK of guilt in all the charges brought against him.

You remember one of his first writings on Peter Obi’s candidacy less than two months ago? FFK praised the Obidient Movement to high heavens and warned that Peter Obi must not be taken for granted. Many of my fellow Obidients fell for that, but I remember I wrote to warn us not to be deceived. He was merely looking for a job with Peter Obi then, because he wasn’t so sure of what Tinubu had in store for him. If Peter Obi was wont to fall for such antics, FFK would be speaking for us today, and most of those lambasting him today would be the same people sharing his tweets and praising him as the best thing that happened to Nigeria and those who are today sharing his tweets and praising him as a big asset would have been the same people spewing invectives against him. You see, we are all guilty, one way or the other. I am only less guilty because I accept my guilt and stay true to myself unlike many others who see hypocrisy as the most certain sign of wisdom.

FFK is seeking Peter Obi’s attention and he is genuinely angry that the incoming President is ignoring him. FFK hasn’t seen a man of such hyper confidence as Peter Obi. He has a way of dragging out other leaders and Presidents and blackmailing them into inviting him either to a meal or for a duel. Peter Obi is neither interested in a meal with FFK or a duel. At least not for now, and certainly FFK will get more nasty our of frustration.

So, when next you read FFK writing long acrid lines of lies against Peter Obi, save yourself the anger, understand that he is merely doing the only thing he knows how to do in order to stay afloat.
