Five [5] Billion, Doe, Abiola, Babangida, Obasanjo, Equals: June 12, 1993, Presidential Elections Annulment [Part II]

Economic Monitoring Group [ECOMOG] of Sub-Saharan African bloc is a regional mechanism or instrument militarily purportedly created to monitor, reorganize, and redirect in order to where possible, restore law and order within the frontiers of warring ECOWAS bloc[s]. However, over time, the International community, private sector, non-for-profit organizations including human rights watch agencies and other human rights monitoring groups across the world have gleaned through reports coming in from the aforementioned entity and decided to investigate reports of rape, torture, genocidal acts, pillaging of treasuries of these war-torn-countries by ECOMOG led by Nigeria; all monitoring groups were to operate under the auspices of the United Nations [UN] African command, etc. From the look of things, there are tangible evidences here and there that these human rights violations indeed occurred in these places. I have already communicated to your readership in the Part I of this piece about the roles of Samuel Doe, Babangida and their acolytes during military totalitarianism, Nigeria. Again, the treasuries of these failed state[s] especially that of Liberia, Sierra-Leone, but particularly Moroniva was rank-sacked with internal support by Doe and his henchmen against the wishes of Liberian peoples.

Today, staggering evidence abound with respect to the aforementioned reports on human rights violations in these frontiers. During Minna born General, Ibrahim Babangida’s military regime, the nation and its neighboring nations-states experienced the worst lawlessness one may add ever. There was total collapse of institutions if they ever existed, collapsed morally beyond anything [perhaps, with exception of the current Administration under Obasanjo second missionary journey], It is indeed tragic. This critical mass-situation is epitomized in the institutionalization of fraud, bribery and corruption inside Nigeria and conversely exported into SSA regional bloc.

As it stands, the con-artist, Babangida, was not alone, he had and still have collaborators who do not know that to do with billions of petro-dollars looted from domestic and foreign state coffers. He had a partner in crime for over 30 years found in M.K.O. Abiola. Babangida, Abiola duo sponsored for the most part, almost all the military coup in Nigeria-state. In this process, they jointly combed its coffers. Its fallouts benefited their fans, friends, and families. They used varying methods and approaches to intimidate the masses submission including satanic: killings, torturing, maiming, bribing, corrupting, disappearances, and other draconic conjectures to accomplish his ambition insofar, life presidency until he was forced to step-a-side. This fraudulent practice was epitomized in the institutionalization of cronyism and individualism which, were systemically embedded under these barbaric military regimes.

By and large, from 1978/89, even late 70s; Olusegun Obasanjo has been part and parcel of them. He has been part of these killing rogues with their thieving mentality, colonial-operations that stifled and contradicted norms and ethos of the land. It is therefore clear that this group of killers formed one of greatest killer network similar to those of Hitler Gas chambers in Germany and Joseph Stalin communist Soviet Union [USSR]. Cronyism and individualism became ingrained, poisonous which, mesmerized and continue to mesmerize our peoples today. EFCC in its entirety is an aberration; institutionally they are toothless, and autonomously bankrupt. EFCC is Obasanjo’s new-communist party corrosive intimidation force. EFCC became Obasanjo’s enforcement-machine, instrumentally responsible to the possible dismemberment of the nation-state, Nigeria if care is not taken; EFCC/Obasanjo and his cronies’ pits groups against groups, region against region, etc.

In the 90s, the Nigerian Labor Union, and National Association of Nigerian Students [NANS] leadership were a force to reckon with. On June 12, 1993 saga, the strategy was not necessarily to hand-over nation’s leadership to Abiola, since, we are aware that Abiola himself was corruption. Practically so, NANS and Nigeria civil society had nothing left with in the 90s as a rallying point. By application mobilization needed an agenda to mobilize around, thusly the critical mass situation provided June 12, which became movement’s only machine to rally the nation by for social and national liberation from military tyranny. In all intents and purposes, the idea was to install Abiola and then throw him out down the line. Either way, Abiola would have still been a sacrificial lamb had he been installed as President of the nation.

Those who had access to information about the happening in Nigeria in the 90s, by-no-means were surprised at Abiola/Babangida political marriage and final outcomes. It is on record that these two rogues dined, fed together.

There were no questions in our mind then at the NANS leadership level about Abiola/Babangida practices against the nation, a treachery that defiled all known solutions.

Here is a rundown list of Obasanjo/Abiola/Babangida’s socio-economic-political treachery against our peoples, there massive killings, there were then and today crime against humanity, crime against our peoples, crime against Nation-state, Nigeria.

I] 1978-89 illegal collection of IMF 9 billion dollars estimated and projected for serve Ajeokuta Steel Complex and even till today Nigeria-state cannot produce ordinary rod;

II] Operation Feed the Nation [OFN] worth millions and billions of naira ended up in Ottah Farm Inc;

III] ITT contract was contracted to Abiola by the military cabal in the 80/90s worth 75 million. This figure according to reports, Abiola changed by adding 0 behind 75 to become 750 million naira that made Abiola over-night millionaire;

IV] Well known assesses worth in millions if not billions of naira in West ECOWAS countries like Benin, Togo, Ghana, Ivory-Coast, Liberia [IBB University, changed to Monrovia University after a massive country-wide protest against the university’s name], Sierra Leone and counting this does not by any means include funds starched out in foreign European and North American Financial institutions, etc. belonging to these men, including Obasanjo;

V] 1983, the killing of the bests Southern military officers corps traveling on a purported training somewhere in Jaji or outside the country. About 256 killed in that plane crash; Till date we have no report or conclusive investigation to explain what happened to these officers, etc;

VI] Killing of Dele Giwa by a Time- parcel-bomb, at his residence. This parcel bomb remains a misery even today; killing of Mamman Vastsa and others for a purported Coup that also remains a misery to the nation till date;

VII] In the 90s the burning of Federal Net Lagos which tragedy, Babangida, Abacha and Bali called the art of God and laughed about it on a national Television, etc.;
VIII] Today over 20,000 Southerners mainly Igbo have been killed under religious riots, social disorders lawlessness and chaotic climates and counting under Obasanjo administration. This has continued with no substantive investigative outcomes, in the meantime, there are no legislative recourses in this milieu from the National Assembly with respect to these irresponsible acts all these years with respect to these barbaric incidents;

IX] Oil windfall of the 90s under Babangida military regime is yet to be accounted for. Some of these petrol-dollars now are currently believed starched out in overseas accounts; while currently Obasanjo administration has given away more billions to purported debt-relief; a national irresponsibility called debt relief. This is an operation executed while our peoples starve, faces malnutrition, diseases, lacked basic life amenities, good road, clean drinking water, food, etc., while Obasanjo in his criminal opportunistic caveat builds his private institutions for example: Library, Bell University, etc., while Adenuga is donating billions of Naira and much more to him. Going back to the debt relief package, report indicates that these debts the nation never owed them in the first place, we paid anyway. We paid them, because all our accounting institutions [ICANs] have been corrupted and none of its members can do the numbers anymore; it doesn’t matter at what level, the corruption is simply debilitating. Be it at the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN] or its regional branches, or other Financial Houses across the country, they are simply incompetent and unqualified. They cannot do simple arithmetic or computation anymore. This is due in part, the fact that nation’s financial industry accounts for over 80% of its employees as incompetent according to reports; many of these individuals work at banks without any prior Banking and/or Financing training. These inadequacies and in-competencies at the nation’s financial districts is a disturbing development, a capacity crisis that dwarfs her, and exposes us internationally before international financial institutions and before the comity of nations. What an outstanding financial operations or practice for a viable and vibrant economy to take off; same is applicable to our legal institutions. We just gave away Bakassi due to in part, lack of incompetent legal representatives, at the International Court of Justice [ICJ]; the lack of capacity thereof within the legal industry while we have only noise makers in the nation is grossly most embarrassing and disgraceful;

X] Over 5,000 and counting political related killings across the country from 78/89 till present, an outstand outcome. The list of institutional killings and destructions in the land is staggering and shocking to say the least. And as the political pretensions of 2007 countdown face-off looms, the nation-state, Nigeria and its people yet awaits or faces unprepared heightening tensions politically. The critical mass poll, its situational nexus is miffed, with frightening and situational uncertainties. Which way Nigeria, which way fellow citizens? Time is running out!

In conclusion my view is that the likes of Babangida, Obasanjo, Atiku and others in this category must do us this favor; conceal yourselves out from the current, unfolding political dispensation for peace, security and order in the land and security for peoples. That is the only sacrifice and gift you can give the land today. We understand it is due process on papers, but, if the mechanisms are there, they can indeed observe due process, including political and economic participation literally. Our peoples have suffered enough and need no additional socio-economic-political psychosis/tortures; they don’t need additional socio-economic and political sieges. We cannot continue to hold parents, mothers, fathers, women, children and old people hostage in their own land; we cannot continue to see them get killed everyday like animals. Even here in the United States, animals have to existence let alone human beings. It is important that we show restraint and stop these wanton killings and disappearance and coerce democratic rather than freedom expression and right to choose your leaders. It is significant and a must do task that they [the people] be allowed to heal from their post-socio-economic-ecological traumatic-syndromes and post-traumatic devastations. Enough is enough. Let them be. These people have suffered enough. Let them be.
