Food and Medical Industries to maintain duties in compliance

FG moves to tackle rising Food Prices

Food and Medical Industries: Governments around the world consider both the Food industries and Medical industries as strategic sectors during this crisis. Since you are helping communities around the globe by providing them essential food, we are socially responsible for keeping our activities going.

As the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues, it is essential to apply thorough hygiene guidelines. In order to help you fight and contain the virus, we have gathered some additional, precautionary measures you can take to ensure Food industries and Medical industries  are safe.

1. Clean the working environment
Maintaining a clean environment for both your customers and team members is now the number one priority. That is why it is important to pay extra attention to cleaning surfaces and objects that are touched by different people, including:

Payment terminals
Counters
Chairs
Kitchen benches
Mixing bowls
Measuring scale
Bread baskets
Work desks
Door handles
Tables
Cash registers
Soap dispensers
Computer (keyboards)

Implement a cleaning schedule to make these efforts part of a routine and inform your customers and staff members accordingly.

2. Focus on Personal hygiene
For everyone to practice good hygiene and prevent the virus from spreading, the World Health Organization (WHO) strongly advises to:

A. Wash your hands frequently with soap and disinfect them with hand sanitizers

B. Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance from other people

C. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth

D. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze (if so, dispose of the used tissue immediately.)

E. Do not shake hands.

F. Ensure all staff on the production floor are fully kitted with recommended clothing, especially nose mask and hand gloves.

G. Any staff that is feeling ill shouldn’t report to work until he/she is certified healthy by a doctor.

Additionally, to avoid touching products with your hands, favour using serving tongs and hygiene gloves.

It is also advised for staff, customers and contractors to have access to places where they can wash their hands with soap and water as well as placing sanitizing hand rub dispensers in prominent places.

You can also (help) remind people of best practices, by displaying posters promoting hand-washing.

3. Temperature Checks at Entrances
Purchase thermal imaging devices for all entrances in use. Where temperature readings are above normal, kindly ask staff not to enter the bakery.

4. Help Social distancing

One effective solution to contain the spread of the coronavirus outbreak is social distancing.
To help and build trust among your customers, you can:

A. Stimulate contactless payments and create a ‘transaction unit’, where you can place the ordered goods for people to collect while keeping distance.

B. Guarantee that customers stay one meter apart. Place visual aids on the floor – with for example tape – to help discipline and reassure your customers.

C. Leave sufficient space for entry and exit flow and communicate a ‘one in, one out’ policy.

D. Limit the number of customers inside, according to the size of your shop/office. Use communication on the door to indicate the maximum of people.

E. When there are lines outside, emphasize the importance of keeping distance again.

F. Ensure your production floor isn’t over-crowded with more than 50 staff as directed by the government.

We shall keep you updated on the position of things as they unfold. Please we should all act responsibly in our own little ways by ensuring that the spread of the virus is curtailed. If it becomes necessary to shut down our bakeries, we should all be prepared to do so. Health and safety must always come first before money.

There are also dangers that we all expose our families to when we fail to observe the highest levels of precautionary measures. Please let us keep strong and safe in the midst of this adversity as we pray continually for Gods intervention.

May God help us all….. Amen
