For the murder of Louise Smith, a Suspect have been arrested

For the murder of Louise Smith, a 29-year-old man has been arrested as a Suspect.

The police have arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of murdering missing teen, including a  29year-old woman,  into custody, on suspicion of assisting an offender.


The pair were previously arrested over fears they kidnapped the 16-year-old, although they had been released on bail.


Louise Smith, from Havant, Hampshire, went missing on VE Day and her body was discovered in a woodland two weeks later.

 

A neighbour saw a girl getting into a red van with bags of clothes on the day teenager Louise Smith vanished, it is reported.


A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: “Officers investigating the death of 16-year-old Louise Smith have today re-arrested a man and woman from Havant.”

 

“The 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder, and the 29-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.”

 

“They remain in custody at this time.”

 

“Both were previously arrested on suspicion of kidnap on May 14 and had been released on bail.”

 

Officers previously released a CCTV image and appealed for the public’s help to piece together the girl’s final movements.


Police had been searching a flat where neighbours say she had been staying in the days leading up to her disappearance and seen on the day she vanished.

Neighbours said the flat belongs to Shane and Cjay Mays and the married couple, both aged 29, were arrested on May 15 on suspicion of kidnapping Louise.

 

Police said the couple who were arrested were later released on bail.

Louise, from the Leigh Park area, was seen on CCTV entering a Tesco Metro, a short walk from when she was staying in Somborne Drive, shortly before 7.30pm on May 7.

 

It was reported to police that she was seen in Somborne Drive at around midday on the May 8 VE Day bank holiday and she was reported missing around 6.30pm the same day.
