Four Palmas players and their club president have been killed after their plane crashed on take-off.

The small aircraft was taking the group to a Brazilian cup game on Sunday – and it has been reported, tragically, that there were no survivors.

The club announced that president Lucas Meira, as well as players Lucas Praxedes, Guilherme Noe, Ranule and Marcus Molinari, all died.

The pilot, named as Wagner, was also killed in the incident.

A statement from Palmas said: ‘The plane took off and crashed at the end of the runway at the Tocantinense Aviation Association.

‘We regret to report there are no survivors.’

Palmas Futebol e Regatas hereby informs that around 8h15 am on this Sunday, 24th, there was an air accident involving the president of the club Lucas Meira, when he was leaving for Goiânia, for the match between Vila Nova x Palmas on Monday , 25, valid for the Green Cup.

The plane on which Lucas was with Commander Wagner and athletes Lucas Praxedes, Guilherme Noé, Ranule and Marcus Molinari, took off and crashed at the end of the runway of the Tocantins Association of Aviation.
