The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun on Wednesday, 10th July met with First Bank officials, discussing the best way out of poverty for his people.
The First Bank team led by their Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Adesola Adedutan, said the financial institution was ready to render its services for the state and its people.
Mr. Adedutan also disclosed that the bank which currently has 13 branches in the state was poised to support in taking people out of poverty through their economic empowerment programmes to rekindle the hope of the people and reduce every form of criminal activities in state.
First Bank reportedly has over 28,000 agent network in the country with 1,800 registered in Ogun State, representing about 7% of the agent network.
In response, Dr. Abiodun commended the bank for “rebranding itself and moving from the analog it used to be known for in the past into the digital system of banking.” He also asked the bank to assist in security through State Security Trust Fund.
I used the medium to seek the support of the financial institution in repositioning and rebranding our security network in order to ensure the socio-economic progress of the state. The issue of security is very germane to our administration and we will require their support and partnership. With adequate security, we can increase the ranking of our State on the global index of ease of doing business, by offering a peaceful and secured environment in our State to prospective investors.
As a government, we reiterated our desire to rebrand the State Security Trust Fund and dominate the team with distinguished personalities with proven integrity. This will give it the required trust, corporate branding and the assurance of having a judicious use of resources.
The Governor’s hope for this partnership is to also develop border areas with Lagos state.
“I intimated the visiting team of our administration’s resolve to guarantee access to the state leveraging on its proximity to Lagos State by developing the border areas.”
